I know it’s speculation but with it being said that Adams and KWP not linking Ralph. Isn’t this his last season before he said he would be retiring?
No the date mentioned was 2024. But it’s a myth he said he was retiring then. He merely said he would consider it. I take that to mean there are other options to consider at that time. One thing he has implied though is that this would probably his last club.

Perhaps he'll take over from Southgate.

West Ham are the ones to sign Cornet then. With a release clause of £17.5m someone was going to. Not a bad price for him in todays market. Would have taken him here but maybe too expensive for us this summer with all the business we had/have to do.

I think it was more that he would have been hoping to hold out for a club that will compete for Europe this season.

In his three seasons with us, Che has scored 4, 9 and then 7 in the league. If we hadn't lost Long and Broja this summer, I wouldn't have batted an eye lid at losing Adams. The only reason I'm keen on keeping him is because I think signing three of our four strikers in one window would be a risk. As Lovelocum said, he's not done enough to show he should be our main man up front.

Over the last three seasons Che's goal per min average is around 1/270. While that doesn't sound great, it is roughly on par with the likes of Emmanuel Dennis and Ollie Watkins, and only slightly bettered by Ivan Toney (1/245). These were the only three bottom half strikers I looked at.

Che Adams is a decent striker for a club in our position. With better service behind him, his stats would likely improve.

Love the reaction to DL's post as if it's absolute blasphemy lol.

I'm sure if somebody had posted "I know somebody close to KWP and apparently there's no chance of him leaving as he's got a great relationship with Ralph and wants to repay his faith in him" then it'd have been treated as gospel by people on here and repeated ad nauseum in the Ralph debate forever.

I'm almost certain it wouldn't have been down to somebody with a pro Ralph agenda <rofl>

Not to say it's true of course, who knows? It's certainly not completely unbelievable though and I always enjoy these little snippets. It is a football forum after all and specifically on a thread which is almost solely speculation.
Thank you!
Only time will tell what actually happens, we all know talking to friends and work mates and thats the feedback I occasionally get from a close friend of Che who does speak to him regularly. He has been moaning about Ralph for quite a while but thats nothing new for footballers

Che needs to improve his stats with regards to those chances that have us all saying “How the **** didn’t he score then”.
He has the ability to be a very good striker, but I think he lacks that “natural goal scorer” ability that sees players like Kane tuck most of these chances away rather than smash the ball against the keeper.
Maybe comparing him to Kane is unfair, but just trying to make the point that in certain circumstances I expect Kane to score, whereas I don’t have the confidence that Che will.

Yeah he's definitely not a natural goal scorer at this level but he offers enough when others are pitching in. His football intelligence and vision with his passing is excellent however and that's something we lack hugely when he doesn't play.

I have a bit of an inside track on the Che Adams saga, he isn't a fan of Ralph to put it politely especially after playing second fiddle to Broja last season event when he was throwing his toys out the pram and not scoring
He was very irratated by Armstrong being played as a striker instead of him and will almost certainly leave if he doesn't get picked to start tomorrow
KWP is a good friend of Che and also dissent like Ralph for picking Tino ahead of him and being played at LB instead of his preferred RB. He is seriously looking to move to Chelsea
Both have 2 years left on their contracts and have been offered new and improved contracts but they are unlikely to sign. Both hoped Ralph was going to be sacked this summer and aren't looking forward to starting the season with him in charge

Concerning to say the least especially KWP

I don’t hear a lot these days about inside the club, but I did hear at least 3 senior players don’t like Ralph or his methods.

Of all the players to be upset with Ralph, then I think Che would have the most cause in the squad.

when we had our purple patch mid season which was the ultimate reason for our survival, Che was part of that side playing upfront with Broja.
Then seemingly Ralph lost all confidence in 4222 and Che was the one to suddenly only play a bit part and coincidentally our form fell off a cliff.

Che is a very good second striker, strong hold up play, decent passing/vision, good in the press and chips in with the odd goal.
Whoever we do bring in as our potential main striker they will have a better chance of making it alongside Che than without him.

Chatting with my son in Australia about Che- he reckons that Che is too ‘nice’ and would benefit from being a lot more ruthless

Completely agree. Ralph has dropped him at some absolutely baffling times to be honest.
Been a few times where he’s looked really good and then Ralph’s started long or Armstrong instead the next game.

For me Che should be one of the first names in the team sheet and deserved more chances when broja fell off a cliff

I think that happens in pretty much any organisation. But the boss is the boss - even Fergie found that! And Revie. And Clough. And McMenemy. The bond that keeps players at a club is the chemistry with the rest of the team. Add to that Ralph has a much reduced role with the team this year. If you look at the training pics / videos, Selles is taking a far more front role when it comes to coaching and communicating with players. Probably other coaches too. Far too much was on Ralph's shoulders last season.
