Unfortunately that's not a realistic question, because we aren't purchasing anyone ! We are simply waiting to see who is going to be available for a loan once the Premier league squads are finalised. I think the powers that be were confident of getting Archer but that looks as if it isn't going to happen and any other option isn't quite as inviting. Add to that the fact that a heap of other Championship clubs are still looking to strengthen their front lines with loans or purchases in some cases and the possible pool of strikers available becomes very thin apart from young untried strikers , not too dissimilar from Armstrong. I'm pretty sure the board though that we'd be selling 1 of our players , probably Dickie or Willock and would have some funds to purchase 1 or 2 players, but as this hasn't happened the plans are up in the air and Beale is unable to strengthen where we need it most.
Thanks for the info. It sounds therefore like a speculative punt which hasn't worked and unless there is something really special about him, I would just move on - if he really does not want to leave 'wall let's concentrate on a kid who is eager for the opportunity and whose owners want him to get some quality experience.
Probably worth noting there's still pretty much a month of this window left, plenty can and will happen before it closes.
Thats all very well and good, but why did he and Les say that 2 signings were very close 3 weeks ago ? Somewhere down the line there has been major failings or downright lies. Everyone knows by now that Les thought that Mcnamara could be nicked on the cheap when everyone at Millwall knew that wasn't gonna be the case, not to have any back up plan for a position that we knew was pivotal and needed just isn't good enough. So who was the other one that we thought was in the bag ? Archer ? Doubtful in my eyes as there were too many bigger clubs circling for him, which could mean that Parrott indeed did turn us down even though we've said we weren't in for him. It doesn't leave many other options as to who it could've been. The 3 crux positions that needed filling were left back, right back and striker and we've filled 1 of those. I don't mind if we are going down this route but the fans deserve to be told that and not lied to. I don't believe by the way Beale is talking there that he thought he was gonna be sold this short, there's doing things on the cheap but it can come back and bite you big time. The boys that are coming back in are gonna have to put in some massive performances, here's hoping !
He looks resigned to the fact he’s got what he’s got and he’s got to make the best of it. Doesn’t look particularly happy and looks exhausted. Love to know what targets he’s been set.
Love to know the players he targeted and asked the board to get ? It's blatant in that interview from his body language that he thought he'd be getting more than this. Something isn't right at the club at the moment, everything feels a bit shoddy. We need a Willock masterclass and a bit of Bowles and Kelly feelgood on Saturday to get everyone buoyed up again. Everyone inside Loftus on Saturday needs to bust a lung I'm afraid.
Welcome to the harsh reality of managing in a club that is working within the Profit and Sustainability rules within the championship MB. He seems to be taking it as it is if a tad frustrated. I don’t fully understand how we don’t have a bit more leeway, than is being portrayed, with wage space left by the number of players released and loans sent back from last seasons squad. Rather surprised to hear that we have to see some players out but I’m assuming he means players going out on loan to release salary space - I’m sure we have players that would benefit from loans this season, we can’t play them all. I expect we will see a couple come in yet. All a bit slow but rather we get it right than jump in too quickly and miss out on some prem talent as a loan.
It's all a tad confusing at times. Of course we have to stay within the rules but we haven't spent a penny.
