I must have missed something, are we playing Man City today? I have no doubt it will be a tough game but Christ almighty!
Only read the first page of posts, normally tend to be the most sane ones going by experience of RTG threads. Most sounded quite reasonable to me, think we are in for a tough opener. Only one that really rankled was the Geordie crowd turning on the players (more accurate if you apply to the correct club).
See, what was all the fuss about.. had the referee not been a total knacker we might’ve took 3 points
Stewart must have shagged the ref’s wife mind, but it looked to me like we needed more players further forward. I’d have brought Simms on when 09 came on. Gyokeres shows the difference in quality in this division mind. There isn’t a single player in league one that is anywhere near that level. If we gift the ball as much as we did second half, players like him will score goals against us.
thought they were poor if I’m honest. Gooch and Clarke were taking the piss out of their 2 wider centre backs first half we should’ve been giving them the ball all game to run at them. It’s refreshing not seeing us capitulate every time someone gets a corner or a set piece on the edge of the box though. We’ll be fine this season. Need an athletic CM in there though instead of Neil IMO.
I’d have taken a draw before the game and I’m very happy with the draw at 90mins thought there number 2 had a canny game
Watching it on TV he was largely anonymous and it showed more when Pritchard and Embo went off. That's where he should have stepped up, but the game passed him by a lot. I'm not having a go at him, but it does show that there's still a lot for him to go to hit the heights we hope he will.
He was anonymous. We went with a midfield 3 rather than a 10 which looked to be the right decision but none of the 3 are big physical lads who can get the ball forward quickly. Evans has his job, Embleton played well and Neil seemed to be just there rather than making his mark on the game.
