His response to journalist questions are gold at times like.

I remember last season before the Shrewsbury game, he was asked:

“Tom Flanagan obviously an ex Sunderland player. Are you worried he may have shared some information about your squad with the Shrewsbury players?”

    “No.”

I never wanted Johnson to go but it's clear that Neil is far more suited to what we need right, now. I'll always see Johnson I'm a good light and I enjoyed the football we played under him, I highly doubt we'd have the likes of Pritchard here if it wasn't for LJ.

I've got no doubt whatsoever that we wouldn't have had anything to worry about regarding promotion if it wasn't for Johnson :emoticon-0105-wink:

If he was still here we'd not be in the league that we're in now, unfortunately :emoticon-0145-shake

Pretty much how I see it. He picked up the pieces of the Parky mess and moved us forward massively. Would we have had Stewart, Pritchard, Doyle, Roberts, Baath without him? I suspect not. If LJ hadnt moved us forward arguably Neil wouldnt be here, and even Neil has given LJ credit for the state he found the club in. Alex Neil has now moved us forward again. It is about levels, and Neil is next level to LJ. There will be a time we boot Alex Neil for a next level manager most likely.

Cant believe people are doing the whole LJ thing again, and cant believe I am being sucked in again...

It wasn’t just a few randoms on social media, it was pretty well published all over mainstream outlets so I’d be surprised if not true or close to that value. Might be talking out me arse here but this makes me confident of Broadhead coming, could have given a lesser fee/wage contribution in return to take Simms on loan and develop him for a season to let Everton assess rather than signing him permanently.

Said the same myself mate and I really think one of our biggest players this season will be Dan Neil, this kid is such a talent, however last season he was run in to the ground by LJ in his first full season and was bullied and kicked to **** in league one, he will be able to play his own game more in the championship and his vision and passing is some of the best I've seen at the club for a long time.
I honestly believe by the end of this season there will be loads of premium league teams after him

Me too, I even managed to getting 2 seats in the posh area with the padded seats.
When they released extra seats must have been spares that the players and families didn't want

Limited admittedly, I’ve known lads in academies of top flight clubs but not for quite a few years. I think you do get good info but strongly suspect you’re out by a good chunk on his salary. Reported in a couple of places as around 3k a week for Broadhead. The average U23 wage in premier league is surprisingly high at around 35k but that includes all the first team players like Sancho on 350k or so a week which pulls the average up massively. I suspect he’s on a decent wage though having signed a new contract as a “ senior player” so perhaps 15-20 k which would probably still be out of our range, especially for someone with his injury record.

For some reason reminds me a bit of Reid where he really cares for his players, is professional in his job, will be very approachable for his players but will take no **** at all

Good call on the comparison of Neil to Reidy. Just a good bloke as well as a good manager.

Just think if by some miracle we do get promoted then unless we spend well over 150 million then we will be embarrassed in most games and finish the season bottom of the table

Two things. One - I don't care if NB is on £1 a week or £1m a week. If he signs for us it's because an acceptable arrangement has been made between player, buying club and selling club. Nothing else matters. Two - of course AN is saying he wants another 4 or 5 bodies in, he's a flaming football manager. Ask any manager in any league if they need a another couple of players and they'll say yes, it's what they do. No club in the country has finished their transfer activity for the summer and there's still a month to go. Anyone expecting us to be 'finished' before a ball is kicked is frankly deluded.

You just get the feeling he really cares and actually gets what the club is about. I've only really got that feeling from Reid , Keane and now Neil. They understand what it means to the supporters.
I can remember Keane saying he couldn't believe how much the club meant to the supporters, he said in Manchester if you lost on a Saturday the fans would be miserable till a Monday, in Sunderland they are miserable till the following Saturday, that's why he fell in love with the club because it was absolutely everything to the fans which he had never experienced before. We've had lots of good technical managers over the years but if they don't understand that then they'll never succeed

Or we are in with a chance of promotion or play offs come January and KLD decides to invest in a higher calibre of player to give us a better chance, either way we would be better prepared for the possibility of the premier league
