Jaden Phologene-Bidace to give him his full name.

A winger not the striker we need unless Morison thinks someone very quick and skilful can play through the middle.

As Remote suggests, perhaps Whyte is moving on although a return to Oxford is unlikely with Murphy signing a 2 year deal.

A strange move which poses more questions than answers.

I remember another player that came from Aston Villa. He too was billed as a winger and not quite up to Villas first team. His name was Peter Whittinghan. Our sadly missed legend

Going back further, we also signed Willie Anderson from Villa. Another winger that did well for us albeit for a shorter period

Whittingham started as a left back at villa.
As did a certain Joe Ledley with us.

Didn't know Whitts started as a fullback. Every day is a school day. I know he started with Coventry as a youngster.

That sees him to the end of his contract.
No fee for him, but reduces the wage bill.
Always thought he was lined up for the exit with two new stoppers arriving.
    Morison's overhaul nearing completion.
Just need to see the onfield results.
    Its been some job.

Well he’s been given a shirt number today. Not sure that means much though

Watters wearing 36, no one with the 9 shirt.
To be fair, a lot of first choice players in many clubs wear numbers bigger than 11.

    More likely who they are.
Only signing 1, but they'll be talking to a few.
Cant imagine a lot of cash being made available, but its a positive message.
1 permie, 1 loanee seems reasonable.
We always thought a striker would be the last to arrive.
Likely Watters will be starting the first few games even if someone arrived today.
Morison clear that Philogene (these names will take some getting used to) wont be considered until he's got some training under his belt. He also said that Davis and Colwill owe him a pre-season.
Good to see Morison being rigorous.

    Uche anyone?

Still at Boro and they will want a fee, if somewhat reduced from the £750k they were looking for.

Alternatively, Hugill after tomorrow? Norwich unlikely to offload him before playing us in the first game.

I'm not sure either fit the bill totally but would fill a gap.

As for a loaner, a young Prem guy to help his development most likely. Perhaps s year or two advanced on where Crole is.

Be interesting to look at how Uche and Hugill would integrate with the new look squad. Hugill's wages likely to be an issue also.
Agree that the loanee is likely to be a younger premiership player.
Hope the strikers we get have the ability to bring the midfield, support attackers / attacking midfield into the game.
I think we could see decent numbers from Ojo, Tanner, Philogene, Colwill, Harris, Davies, O'Dowda, Sawyers, Rinomhota.
Spreading the goals around will be really important with the 5 subs available. Hope to see quite a few goals off the bench.

Still wavering, but today my glass is half full.

That's a very good and valid point about spreading the goals around rather than relying on a 15/20 goal striker to have to get them.

It's been mentioned before on here, but the season we went up under Malky, Helguson was our top scorer with just 9 - the rest came from all over the pitch.

Whitts and Chopra had 20 goal seasons, we finished mid-table both times.
A couple years back I dug through 5 or 6 years of info.
The findings were that most 20 goal strikers dont get promoted (Piroe), while many / most promoted sides dont have a 20 goal striker. Always exceptions, but not as important as you might think.

If we can get 10 to 15 out of a few players and 5 to 10 from another 4 or 5 we'll be laughing.

    Uche is cr@p no thanks.

We badly need 2 strikers in.

Id be starting Harris tomorrow but looks like Watters may get the nod.

Neither of them what we need. I don't disagree on Uche but he is still better than what we have.

Not sure I am in favour of this as I feel the point has been made and there’s no need to keep on doing it
