I think Ozan can be that player when he gets up to speed. But yeah another one would be welcome, perhaps one of our loan spots will be used on one. Seri was brought in to "orchestrate" the midfield, so I don't see why Slater can't be the ball winning midfielder we need. Cover for him, maybe, but from what I've seen in pre season, I'm not sure why people are clamouring for a DM when Slater is the obvious choice for that position.
Yeah of course, and I think we can use a loan spot to get another midfielder in no problem, there's plenty of them about.
Slater was brought in to be the understudy to Smallwood. I think he is more than capable of doing that job.
Looks no where near ready to start Saturday, but saying that none of them do If last weeks friendlies are anything to go by. Play the team from the Cambridge game.
The midfield was just crying out for a Smallwood figure at Peterborough, both their first goals came from the midfielders just letting off ball runners bypass them without being followed
No-one tracking the fullbacks either so we were 1vs2 out wide despite having 5 in defence most of the time. Surely we knew how Grant would set up to play?
Because him and Seri would get refused on some roller coasters at Alton Towers. Slater doesn’t shirk a tackle but him and Seri just aren’t physical enough in midfield.
His best cameos last season came in front of Smallwood and another so id 100% do that. He closes that gap between front and back through the amount of ground he covers too
No brainer until Tufan is match fit given who's currently available. See if any more come in this week.
If he wasn’t a chronic sick note, I think Bielik would be ideal sort of defensive midfielder to play next to Seri.
Guy will run till his lungs fall out, he will win balls distribution will improve with better players around he will protect Seri, Defend and Attack and his awareness around him will get better he is good for the role.
Has he not spent three years playing as a centre half at Derby though? Would you want to wait that long for him to adjust again?
Hmm, I disagree with you there, I think he's more than capable. Being a DM is more than just your size, Slater is very good at winning the ball from people and forcing mistakes, plus he's more mobile than Smallwood was.
Docherty could become a very instrumental player this season, he could quite easily make the position his own.
