Good workout friendly at our sister club in Belgium yesterday, OH Leuven. Game played over 120 minutes with starting 11 swapped at the 60 min mark. Players that came on at 60 mins included Vardy, Iheanacho, Soyuncu and the Belgian trio of Tielemans, Castagne and Dennis Praet. Entertaining work-out ended up 3-3. 2 soft goals given away in the first 20 mins the first within the first minute ... so work to be done on that front... but overall the squad starting to look sharp and fit.
What are your predictions for Lesta this season Flossy ? Think you can improve on last season’s 8th placed finish, or do you think you’ll be pushed further down the table by the likes of Newcastle and wolves ?
It's an interesting one Ponky ... the squad we have was unlucky not to have got a Top 4 spot in 2 out of the last 3 seasons ... they haven't become bad players overnight and if they stay fit and sort out a couple of weaknesses ... who knows? ... defending set pieces etc then I expect we'll continue to disrupt the top party guests.. What was noticeable yesterday was the depth ... in my whole life supporting them, one or 2 injuries can wreck a season ... but last season, despite a whole catalogue ... we still managed to finish 8th and get to a European final ... and when we were able to put out a stronger team we beat United and Liverpool ... only Citeh managed the latter feat ... Other teams will 'strengthen' unquestionably but whether that translates to results is never guaranteed ... Would I have wanted any of the signings made by Newcastle and Wolves, so far? ... nah ... would you? ... we have better players IMHO ... The 'Big 6' have signed players that I would have loved for us to get, for sure .... but our modus of buying younger players to develop is definitely something I agree with for a club of our size ... So I'm cautiously optimistic ...
I noted in a news story about a lack of transfer activity, just makes me wonder if your owners are going to bin off Rodgers.
Personally, I don't think so ... not imminently anyway. We probably need to sell first, with such a big squad ... we played 2 completely different teams yesterday before giving some academy lads a run out in the last 30 minutes ... apart from the 2 young keepers the rest all had considerable first team experience... and Schmeichel, Choudhry, Ndidi and Ryan Bertrand didn't take part ...
I read that Leicester are currently carrying about £270m of debt. I don’t know how that debt is structured but it may be that the owners want to reduce that in the short term, particularly as they are talking stadium improvements.
Think their biggest problem is that the wage bill is around 85% of revenue only exceeded in the PL by the financial basket case of Everton .
Well you’re not really disrupting any of the top party guests at the moment Flos. I think Lesta’s realistic ambitions should be to maintain a top half finish, you were only 3 points off finishing 11th last season and that 8th place kind of flattered Lesta in all honesty.
Well that's your opinion Ponky, and you are entitled to it ...but I totally disagree, based not just on partisanship but more on facts ... and having watched them much more than you .... Our performances improved markedly in the last third of the season, coinciding with the returns of James Justin and Wesley Fofana from the long term injuries that kept them out from the start of the season ... so no flattering there ... better players mean better performances as the games against Rennes, PSV and Roma demonstrated ... we changed 8 players per game as we concentrated on Europe ... but still finished 8th in the league and only the Top 4 scored more goals ... If any team flattered mate it was probably your lot ... but looking more of a challenge to equal that finish this season tbf ... 4 above you and United all strengthening considerably ... whereas you have replaced Auboomerang and Lacazette with Man City's back up striker ... Only a fool in Goon goggles would think you will finish above the Spuds ... never mind the real big boys ...
