We’ll need that extra forward if there’s doubts over his long term fitness. I know we’re not seeing him as an out-and-out striker but he is expected to contribute a decent number of goals to the season. We need those goals! The backroom management team will be franticly weighing up options once they know the problem I’m sure. MB continues to impress with his pre-season interviews as he gets to see more of his squad.
Loving the fact in his interviews he states he’s bringing more of the youngsters into his extended senior squad and will not be letting certain ones out on loan, looks like a good sign for promoting from within rather than loans which must inspire the youngsters no end !
From Wikipedia, it looks like he gets a decent amount of goals at Championship level.... but a striker who is only 5' 8".
Can't see that happening, there will be loads of clubs ready to take him on loan including some Prem teams I reckon. Would be a useful addition. We really need someone in who can score regularly or even 2.
To be honest I couldn't give a toss about sterling, yes he was here for a while as a kid then went to Liverpool then to a plastic club then on to another plastic club .. end of
Hope he recovers in time for the season opener........just the thought of the possibility of Bonne in the starting line-up has me feeling all peculiar
12 goals in 46 appearances last time. Some good ones in there too. Looks like a confidence player, if Beale thinks he has it in him……..
Some of those are very decent indeed. Did we manage to alienate this fella when he first signed and did not score many??
No idea. As always our (the fans) expectations were probably too high. I remember him scoring a couple of cracking headers for us. 12 from 46 in League One is hardly stunning, but there seems to be something to work with at least.
Totally agree Sb. Too early to cast him aside. I don’t think Ipswich are up for him (or can afford him). But I do think he’s worth a season with MB and an opportunity in games (if he thinks there’s something to work with).
Totally agree, we must have seen something to pay a fair whack of cash. 1 goal in 3 for Charlton which is a better return than our forwards have managed recently, MW clearly didn't like certain players and consequently gave them no chance in our squad. I will put a couple of quid that he is a lot better than the few games we have witnessed him playing in
WLS say we are looking to bring in Brighton midfielder Taylor Richards on a permanent, or loan with a view to making it permanent. He's on contract with Brighton until 2024.
Villa are on a pre season trip to Australia. Many of the potential loanees are on the trip, so Gerrard and his team can look at them - like Beale has with our U23s - they won’t be making any loans until they come back, next week. We might not get any, but patience Chicken Little, patience.
