I met someone who claimed to be his teacher at school in Brent, during the Euros. Said he was a very nice kid, who just wanted to play football. He was in a nasty area, but football kept him out of trouble
Except Sterling has been superb over a number of years, especially for England. Fun fact: There's only one player who has played under Pep who has more goals and assists...... Lionel Messi.
That's fair enough but it should be alot higher the amount of chances he had. Sterling's goals to big chances ratio is very poor compared to other top strikers in world football. I have a feeling that if Haaland stays at City for 7 years too he'll soar past Sterling's scoring record. It will be interesting to see where he plays at Chelsea
Do you have stats to back that up? Sterling used to miss far too many chances and made poor decisions. That changed markedly under Pep.
Well that's 200k more than the 2nd bid, hopefully 3rd time lucky . Its still short of what they wanted for him, but maybe he's refused the new contract so they've decided to let him go !
The shooting accuracy and big chances missed are the ones to note. He scored 109 goals but could've almost doubled that with 98 big chances missed. Of those big misses 81% were from inside the 6 yard box ! Shooting accuracy of only 41% is way down on other leading players in Europe. I like Sterling but even to this day he does miss a hell of alot of glaring chances. I'd say for every excellent chance he gets he'll bury 2 in 5 of them. Depending on the system Chelsea play I expect him to do pretty well !
A lot of that has to be subjective. However, I agree that he still misses too many, although his goals to games ratio for England is excellent.
Every time I watch Sterling play I feel that he loses the ball trying an outrageous run with the ball, or misplaces a cross/shot, far too often. Such a shame he has chosen to join Chelsea...and only a few weeks ago it looked like Chelsea were heading for financial ruin.
Must admit I'm surprised he's going to that lot especially after the racial abuse he received from their crowd a few years ago, maybe he's showing them that he's actually a bigger person....... The only other thing is that it's not too far for him to travel when he comes back to us in 5 years time on a free transfer and £10k a week to finish his career.........
Sterling quite obviously is a huge footballing talent, most top teams would surely welcome his services at the right price. Is he a nice bloke ? I don’t know and I don’t much care because he’s not a Ranger. In fact, even if he wasn’t a nice bloke but put in a good service to my team, I wouldn’t care. By all accounts, Adel was a total ar5ehole. I do know Sterling has an Ak47 tattooed on his leg and his father was murdered in a shooting. That makes it difficult for me to understand his choice of body art and might question his state of mind on the date he visited the tattoo parlour.
Couldn't agree more Jeff. Wouldn't mind a bit if he was re-signing for us but I couldn't care less what he's up to now.
