Was doing some work on Wyscout tonight so thought I would look at potential targets. Below is the list I would like us to sign by end of the transfer window 1st choice 2nd choice GK - Daniel Iverson - Permanent John Ruddy - Permanent LB/CB - Hjelde from Leeds on a loan deal Jarrad Braithwaite from Everton on loan (would potential need a LB still if we signed him) CDM - Max Bird - Permanent Bartosz Slisz - Permanent from Legia (very unlikely but I really like him, also think Charlie Savage on loan could be an option) LW/CF - Broadhead - Permanent Anthony Scully - Permanent CF - Troy Parrott from Spurs on loan Ellis Simms - Permanent RM - Tahith Chong from United on loan Reda Khadra - Permanent or Loan I would then get rid of Winchester (permanently), Diamond (loan) and Dajaku (loan). Plus loan the likes of Cairney, Taylor and Sohna out as well. I would keep Huggins, Hume and Matete till January and judge whether any of them need loan moves then. As you can tell I was quite bored tonight and totally forgot the England vs Norway game was on!!!
We will bring in 3 more that's it, 2 on loan and 1 perm signing. 1 is a striker, the others not found out yet.
Not having that mind Bob, we need two strikers and at least one more full back for a start. Let alone another CB and CM.
If you quote, it saves that quote in your text box. If you quote again, it adds that after whatever is already in. And so on. And so forth
Got to be more than that, we have one left back, no natural right back, 3 centre backs. So that 3 players straight away before you even start on another keeper and striker
We have 2 natural rb in Hume and Huggins plus Gooch and Winchester. I definitely agree with your other points
I am a big fan of Scully. I dont think we will go for any more wide players though as we are well stocked. Same as the no.10, we are well covered. Max Bird would be a good signing. Coventry in for him at the minute, probably others, but not heard we are.
Hume barely played last season so was half expecting him to be loaned out , and sounds like huggins won't be seen in safc shirt anytime soon
Us fans always want more players than the clubs / managers seem to. I guess part of it is keeping players happy and balancing that with having enough depth. As of right now the only positions we have lost from our first team squad are: Doyle (CB - replaced by Ballard) Xhemajli (CB) Burge (GK) (essentially already replaced by Pattinson) Hoffman (GK) McGeady (Winger) Broadhead (Striker) Defoe (striker) Therefore it stands to reason that there is obvious space for 5 more players - a GK, a CB, a winger and 2 strikers. And frankly Defoe and Xhemajli barely played, so you COULD argue the CB and third Striker aren't essential (I wouldn't argue that) Now you could (and I would) argue we need more depth in more positions than that, as we had a small squad last season anyway. But it seems pretty clear the club isn't wanting to move away from utilising versatile players effectively. Lets face it - if Gooch was going to be here just as a wing option, he'd barely play compared to what he can do when he's also a wing back option. Quality over quantity is the way to go. The only two positions we desperately NEED to fill are GK and Striker, as we only have one in each position. The rest is about bringing in quality not adding back ups for back ups.
