Morning all. Lovely morning, but the temperature is starting to rise again, and another very hot spell is being forecast. Mme goes into hospital tomorrow for her new hip, and she has to have a covid test before then. Might have helped if they had said something earlier than yesterday, but it does make sense. So off to the lab in town for the second time this week. Should soon get the loyalty card and frequent user discounts. Have a good day everyone.

Morning all.....

Been having all-time issues with the NHS about various health issues. I have had appointment after appointment cancelled at short notice and then new letters coming for dates when we are away even though we have told them. .

I was referred for Urgent diabetes appointment 8 weeks ago... still not happened.
I have had several urology appointments cancelled and rescheduled when not possible to attend..... Finally had a phone appt... and then the date for tests was cancelled twice and then reoffered when we are back in france..... i was eventually in such discomfort and despair that i asked if I could have a private appt... . and lo and behold saw the consultant the next evening.........all tests done.. . and no you dont have cancer.........

The private clinic all this took place at is the very same place my NHS appointments have been referred to ....and the admin said to me... once you go over to private you cant go back to NHS.... .grrr........ and then when I was the consultant he said... ah next time would youi like to see me on the NHS..... totally crazy.

Meanwhile I have been waiting 230 days for another first appointmenjt with a surgeon for another issue.

Been a shocking couple of months all in all.......

Meanwhile the sun is shining and the sky is blue...have a good one

Appointment for Mme's covid test was for 10.40 am, and the result was e-mailed to her at 11.40 am. Didn't expect otherwise, but negative, so her trip to hospital is still on. My daughter who works one day a week in theatre, doing head and neck procedures which are quite delicate operations, says that while doing them they play music. Heavy rock.

Tory policy. Decimate, demoralise, divide, privatise. My younger sister is a GP, the older is a published senior oncological nurse, my father in law was Deputy Director of the PHLS upon retirement, and I've spent more than my fair share of time in and out of various clinics, surgery, physio...

...and then the dosh paid to see the man seems well spent...because it was SO needed.....very disappointing..... and dont get me going on the complete running down of gp services

Yes, a close family member has just had to go private to have some skin cancers removed having been misdiagnosed not once, but twice, and ending up at the back of the NHS queue.

Morning all. Already warm, but there is a breeze to make it feel comfortable. Not looking forward to later in the week when it could be touching 40°C. Eric, the son of my neighbours is down from Paris where he lives and works as a groundsman at a sports complex. He comes each year normally to carry out house repairs for his parents, gets fed, and watches the Tour de France each afternoon. He didn't get here last year because of covid, and when I spotted him yesterday I could hardly believe my eyes. He was big, probably around 25 stone, but he looks as if he has been cut in half. Quite what has happened I don't know, but he is moving a little faster than before. Have a good day everyone.

Morning all. The weather forecast for today shows just what a large country France is. Temperatures in the north expected to be 23°C, while in the south-west it is likely to be 38°C. Being halfway down the country we are likely to see 31°C, but each day of the week it is expected to rise. Mme is currently under the knife, so I am having to change my routines to fit in watering, shopping and hospital visits. At least with this weather cold salads will not need me to slave over a hot stove. Have a good day everyone.

Morning all. The breeze that helped to alleviate the heat yesterday has gone, so keeping in the shade is now the best option. I was at the hospital yesterday when the surgeon came to see Mme, and he said that her operation had gone very well, and the x-rays showed an excellent result. My daughter, who works in hospitals, couldn't believe that Mme will not be discharged before the weekend. The normal discharge in Oxford is two days after the same operation. So now I am having to do the watering for both mine and Mme's plants. If hers appear poorly when she gets home I think I will have to turn off my hearing again. Have a good day everyone.

Morning all. Early start to beat the heat, but had to wait for the baker to turn up to restock the bread machine. Yesterday on my trip into town I passed the annual sports day opposite our small campsite. There must have been sixty or more children trying out different sports. Archery, basketball, tennis, football and loads more, all provided by a sports team that tour the area and encourage children to come along and try something out. Ultimately a good use of tax payers money if it helps to keep children fit and gives them an interest in something which is not on their mobile phone. Have a good day everyone.

Finally bug negative after 4 days of heavy flu like gunk and a few more days to fully shake it. Well, shake it enough to be negative.

70,000 cases a day here and 5th wave in full effect, though hospitalisations down due to the jab.

Morning all. Back from my duties with the watering can. Not that bad if you make an early start and the sun hasn't risen high enough to shine over the trees. The great and the good are gathering around the country to celebrate the national day. I do wonder who came up with those funny hats that the top military brass wear. Probably as useless as putting people in bearskins.
As my son-in-law said to me this week, " It is a good job that covid and the war in Ukraine are both finished, so are not distracting people from the leadership contest". He was referring to the media output.

Morning all. If the météo is to be believed it will not be quite as hot today, around 31°C they say. I realised that I am still a kid at heart as I watched the fantastic fireworks display from Paris last night. All so different from when Dad would poke a catherine wheel with a stick to try and get it to spin on the fence, or the rocket that left the milk bottle and took a horizontal path rather than a vertical one. One part of me says what a waste of money, while the other part marvels at just what effects can be achieved. I suspect that for special occasions it is good to watch in awe, and appreciate that there are some very clever people around to construct such a display. Have a good day everyone.
