They signed Mason about a month after Bruce left.

Bruce wanted to sign Powell and they said no. He'd wanted Gray the previous season and they'd lowballed Brentford.

Yes, I know. Point being money was there to spend. The Allams just didn’t fancy Bruce’s targets.

Which is why Bruce walked. Same for Corberan. I'm sure Huddersfield will sign players, but if they weren't the ones Corberan wanted why bother staying.

I can't think of a single player the Allams signed that window that worked out.

So in a grand total of 9 transfer windows, they didn't back him in 1.

Fair enough but the comparison between Corberan and Bruce is apples and oranges. In his two years at Huddersfield, Corberan has operated on a shoestring budget. I think every single one of their signings in the 21-22 season were free transfers and loans and they barely spent any money in his first season either. He's done exceptional to get them third in the Championship with such a limited budget and his frustration at the ownership's short pockets is understandable. Bruce on the other hand was given more than enough money to spend during his time at City.

He made some good signings during his time here, no denying that, but he was given enough money to be successful. Very few owners in the Championship would've spent £2.6 million on a striker in the German second tier back in 2012.

Davies was the most expensive at £2.25m, then Brady at £2m, then Meyler at about £1.5m, Proschwitz was touted as being over £2m, but that turned out to include a load of add-ons we never triggered.

Ah, right? How much did we pay up front for Proschwitz?

I can’t remember the details, it was a long time ago now, but it was certainly closer to £1m than £2m.

A very important one, Ehab decided he was going to close the cheque book and retain the premier league profits. Good from a financial point of view short term, but long term it could have seen us plummet down the leagues, if not for Acun having a dream.

The comparison is purely that Corberan has quit halfway through pre-season because the owners aren't backing him in this window. Which is identical to Bruce. If Corberan wasn't backed last year either, Bruce wasn't backed a year before he quit when the club didn't bring in Gray. It's not about the quantum of the signings, it's screwing around with a manager's preferred targets.

To be fair they ultimately didn't close the chequebook that season. As Kalman noted we panicked and spunked money on Marshall and Mason, and then Grosicki in January, although that window was pretty much funded by Snodgrass and Livermore.
