The thing with defenders, specially centre halves, every mistake is magnified. Whoever we get, or have, or have had will make a few. Just look at Stones at City. £50m a few years ago and there is still one in him. Plenty of others too. That's just the way it is. On the chance against Wycombe I thought on the day after a few looks that it was an exaggerated bounce, and it wasn't the only example of it at that end, ( I was watching on the telly). But the odd bollock or not, I'd say if Wright stays fit he'll be good for us.
Championship market seems to be a bit sluggish still, but the premier league seems to be making a move, which in turn will speed up ours.
Wright was a colossus during the first 10 minutes against Sheffield Wed, and went on to play a huge part in our end of season triumph. I have every faith in the lad, and am pleased we have him in that back line as he also adapts so well to the switches AN makes during games. I am a little sorry to see Arby leave tbh especially after his display down at Wigan, the game which gave me the belief that we finally had promotion in our sights.
Wright will still be a great squad player for us but I believe we will bring in another 1st choice CB to start alongside Ballard. Against the more physical CFs I trust Wright, that's why he was class against Sheff Wed and Wycombe but he does struggle against busier quicker CFs, which we will come up more against next season. Wright will be massive off the pitch, seems a great guy who everyone looks up too - we need players like that to help our young players kick on and develop.
I'd disagree, I think he will struggle in the Championship as he has always struggled against forwards with movement - the Championship has loads of forwards like this. League 1 has more physical static forwards which suits Wrights game. I hope you are right though as I think he's a top guy and I hope he proves me wrong and becomes a top player for us next season.
I think Ohare is one of the targets he was supposedly seen in Durham last night. I will ask tomorrow see if there is any craic.
Now there's a name from the past. Another who our fanbase made a scapegoat and did well after he moved , I think to Derby.
I'm sure I seen a decent bid rejected for him earlier today. Can't find the tweet though and can't remember who it was from (wasn't us). He is another no 10 isn't he? Highly rated I think. Edit: Burnley??
Hes a quality player, needs to add more goals to his game but works his socks off and is creative. Can play as a no10 or out wide so def be keen on him
I don’t disagree.. I just know he’ll be on the team sheet. Neil likes him and he was top drawer second half of last season. He had a few contract offers elsewhere, if he wasn’t part of our plans he would’ve been off. Without him organising the defence I think we would’ve struggled at the back. Personally I think he’s in centre-back middle ground, he’s neither a presence nor really quick. If he does decide to play a back 3 then wright and Ballard either side of Batth could work.
