I saw Floyd play AHM at Hyde Park in 1970 and then again at the Roundhouse.
I love Syd and their music from that period, but much like Fleetwoid Mac and Peter Green , I believe they went on to become a much better band and it freed up the others to write more, even if Waters became an egomaniac. Was listening to some of Gilmour's new stuff the other day, and the guy's still superb !
Fleetwood Mac were only any good while Peter Green was with them imo.
Given the choice I would definitely listen to Peter Green over Fleetwood Mac. The guy is a genius. Mad as a box of frogs - but still a genius.
Sadly he died in 2020.
Seven or eight years ago I was in the doghouse after having taken my wife to the US to see the full Rumours line up on tour (we did other things but this was the centrepiece of the trip). They were thoroughly professional and the audience, and particularly my wife who is a super fan of this version of Mac, loved it, but after they played The Chain, the only song I was familiar with, first, I fiddled with my phone and might have even dozed off for a bit. This was seen as disrespectful. She saw them twice more on that tour when it got to the UK, but I wasn’t invited.
I get why people like this version of Mac, but it’s certainly not for me.

They were really two seperate bands IMO pre- and post Green leaving, and not comparable.
Pink Floyd carried on the path that Syd set them on, and evolved into the band they became, forever pushing boundaries with their music.

The thing about Fleetwood Mac is most people nowadays only seem to acknowledge the later band with Buckingham and Nicks. The earlier band were phenomenally successful and in 1969 outsold the Beatles. Green was an absolute genius and probably the best British blues guitarist of that or any other era. But for that awful incident that effectively ended his time with the band who knows just how much more successful that band may have become.
The later version of the band were good but aimed at a totally different audience, the only thing linking them are Fleetwood and Mac from the original line up but they're effectively a soft rock/pop version...

Further to the previous poster here's one from the year before, 1969, with an even better line-up imo. Fleetwood Mac headlining showing their status as our top band. Prices below £1, what more could you want?...

They're both masters of their art but the tone and 'feel' that Green had always set him aside when playing the blues...
Obviously very, very late to this particular party, but I just watched McCartney's set at Glastonbury.
Have to say I thought he was outstanding.
Loved his stories and little asides like...."we wrote a few songs and they did quite well......"
An absolute God among songwriters, obviously along with Lennon. Surely one of the greatest song writing partnerships ever, if not the greatest.
Always get a buzz when witnessing absolute legends. The stage was full of top musicians and his voice, which I was concerned about and was quite ropey at the beginning, got better as it warmed up through a very long set.
Loved all the tributes to the other Beatles and thoroughly enjoyed it. (obviously had to endure The Boss!!!!!!?????)
