Plenty of talent, as Alex Ferguson attested to, but there seems to be something in his character or attitude that has held him back. I don't see us taking on someone who's potentially going to become an albatross around our necks.
He’s a player with more than enough ability to dictate a game from the middle which is what we need. Dan Neil not quite able to that yet, I said early doors last season he was leaving evans wide open and nobody would have it because he’s a local lad so evans got the ****.. Still needs to add that to his game if he’s to play in the middle although I see him better suited as a no.10. O’nein did a job on bannan against Sheff Wed in the play offs but playing with 2 defensive midfielders in the middle will just stifle us in this league IMO.
Not in 2022, prices have gone through the roof. Makes you wonder what Stewart is worth in the current market.
Zinckernagel gone to Greece, likely for a very low fee. He was brilliant for Forest last year. Played the 10 role for them. I am not saying Twine wont be good for Burnley but I cant believe a championship team looking for a 10 hasnt taken Zinckernagel.
Papers are saying initial payment of €2m. Good price for him. Big move to Olympiakos though- Champions League football (if they get through the preliminaries)- potentially more attractive than another season in the Championship.
Any idea who that Sinatras Fedora over the road used to be? Reckons we couldn’t afford £4 million. I find that hard to believe
Re: Twine. Stating the obvious I know but he's only a "League One Player" because MK Dons didn't get promoted. he clearly isn't a League One player. Re: Morrison. I see a lot of people saying he's completely the opposite of the type of signing we are making. I actually disagree. He's exactly the type of signing we are making. We are signing players that are rough diamonds that others wouldn't touch. Moneyball.
We're signing "rough diamonds" if their character is right. I would question the idea that Morrison is a rough diamond at all though. The mythology around him seems to come from an anecdote that Fergie thought he was the most talented players he'd sign at a young age. But the comment came from Rio Ferdinand, not Fergie directly and Fergie thought he was so talented, that he never played a league match for Man Utd and was gone by the time he was 19. Since then he's had 12 clubs and I'm not aware that he's massively impressed at any of them.
Quite well known that Morrison was the most talented youth at United. Rooney said he was head and shoulders above Pogba. Attitude was always an issue but seems to have settled down. Remember the same being said about Patrick Roberts - had a run of games and you seen the talent he posses.
I’d be surprised if Leicester accepted that. Iverson is being touted as Leicester’s future number 1 when Schmeichel stops playing. Unless there’s a buy back clause of around £8m inserted into the deal.
Roberts was 24 when we "gambled" and by that time he'd already evidenced at Fulham and more so at Celtic that he has the ability. Morrison is 29 and he's not really shown it anywhere. Even if we took a chance and he showed up for the first time in a decade, how much use do we have over the next few years for another attacking midfielder that is approaching 30, doesn't score goals and has only played more than 30 games for 1 season in his entire career?
Yeah potentially. Think Danny Ward only made 2 appearances across all comps last season which is generally how it seems to be for backup goalkeepers now. Schmeichel is 35, could still have 2/3 seasons left so I doubt Iversen is going to want to sit around for that long or be loaned out 3 more times when he’s already 24. I think a deal with a buy back for them is good business for both clubs.
