To back this up I was scouted by Everton when I was 12 years old. I even went to the club training ground and was shown around. In my local leagues I was scoring 60+ goals because I was fast and more developed than most.Scouts watch 8 year olds, it means **** all. The vast majority of scouts do it on a part time basis and have full time proper jobs too. Just because someone gets scouted it means jack **** till an offer of a trial or transfer comes in.
Can't speak for you mate, but I coach at grass roots level and watching stuff like heavy first touches, heavy passing, over hitting on a dribble, running towards corner flags, not looking up, not locking their striking foot when shooting, the position of their standing foot is when they strike and in particular - cocky little gits that over rely on nut megs, back heels and rainbow flicks. So perhaps I just view it the way I do with the kids I deal with when I'm seeing what they need to work on.
my first touch was average. I could finish. I had pace. When I went into the actual training sessions I was gobsmacked at how much better most of the kids technical levels where. Almost cried.
But at that stage at 12 I was better in other areas. The issue was this. My speed couldn’t develop. I was max size. The other 12 years developed and I was thus just an average lanky **** footballer.
I think there is a player in Ekitike but as you point out once he puts the muscle on to compete at PL level then he will lose something else. He’s playing in a bang average league aswell.
