Scouts watch 8 year olds, it means **** all. The vast majority of scouts do it on a part time basis and have full time proper jobs too. Just because someone gets scouted it means jack **** till an offer of a trial or transfer comes in.

Can't speak for you mate, but I coach at grass roots level and watching stuff like heavy first touches, heavy passing, over hitting on a dribble, running towards corner flags, not looking up, not locking their striking foot when shooting, the position of their standing foot is when they strike and in particular - cocky little gits that over rely on nut megs, back heels and rainbow flicks. So perhaps I just view it the way I do with the kids I deal with when I'm seeing what they need to work on.
To back this up I was scouted by Everton when I was 12 years old. I even went to the club training ground and was shown around. In my local leagues I was scoring 60+ goals because I was fast and more developed than most.

my first touch was average. I could finish. I had pace. When I went into the actual training sessions I was gobsmacked at how much better most of the kids technical levels where. Almost cried.

But at that stage at 12 I was better in other areas. The issue was this. My speed couldn’t develop. I was max size. The other 12 years developed and I was thus just an average lanky **** footballer.

I think there is a player in Ekitike but as you point out once he puts the muscle on to compete at PL level then he will lose something else. He’s playing in a bang average league aswell.

They'll get one and it'll seem underwhelming plus 2 or 3 other players for other positions, but any newcastle fans holding on to hopes of signing Paqueta, Diaby or anything even remotely as exciting that are way off the mark.

I don't mind being way off the mark, I'm still going to hope for Diaby and Paqueta, don't expect them but will still hope...

So in other words you weren't good enough and you didn't become a scout either.

No longer more developed. If anything a bit disabled

I'm going to have this thread and my Joelinton to midfield thread soon! Defeating the teenager that once had trials for everton and the local youth club coach in the process.

Gouiri 86 potential

Broja 85 potential

Ekitike 82 potential

Probably because the FIFA researchers hadnt even heard of Ekitike before last season but still.

I wasn’t good enough and I never ever wanted or have claimed to be a scout.

But your missing the point. The kid may be good in his league but in the PL he may get absolutely hammered.

There are many players who have scored a shed load of goals in other leagues but cannot do it in the PL.

Well I don't trust ratings based on a game, remember Freddy Adu ? had like 98 potential and look how it turn out to be...

Rumsfield gets one call right in his whole career (Joe in DM) and all of a sudden he is untouchable.

May I remind everyone he said that we would (absolutely) have been relegated if not for Chris Wood.

The scenario is the same I pointed out Joelintons strengths and was told I was wrong.

You'll soon realise.

Well maybe one day.

Your first touch has definitely gone downhill - now the only thing you can trap is your penis.
