    Rubbish .
Aa few years ago we were told the building we were in was closing and we would have to work several miles away .

ALL the non union members who this would affect suddenly joined the union .

What the fk has that to do with pay negotiations ?

like I said unions are there for more than just pay negotiations .

I would have taken the move, compensated travel for 2 years and a different environment. Sounds heavenly

You have no idea where from and where to !

and the fuel money didn’t cover the amount you had to spend on fuel .

In the end the place we were in stayed , our company had shaken the tree as they say .

Some older staff just left , wages saved there and. It suited me to go there ( Family reasons ).

Anyway my point is still valid . If unions are all about strikes , picket lines AND PAY RISES .

why did all the non union members that this move would have affected join ?

Simple, don’t work over time <laugh>

My contract clearly states no over time, so I only work for my contracted hours. If the boss asks nicely to stick around for a bit, I do it for him as he’ll let me have a few hours off paid another time

Right, I don't want none of you scabs trying to cross this official picket line, until my negotiations have been met, athough I don't actually know what I'm striking about, so this could take time.
