Swansea in talks with USA winger Gooch Swansea are in talks to sign USA winger Lynden Gooch. The 26-year-old is a free agent this summer after the expiration of his contract at Sunderland. Newly-promoted Sunderland have also offered him a new deal to stay at the club, while Preston have also shown interest. He setup six goals in 38 appearances in League One last season. (Sky Sports)
This follows a conversation with a Leicester ST holder this morning who said how good he is. Still would like to see Patto given the job.
Probably be best off waiting to see what happens, re signings and who stays and who goes. I will say this, if a player has any doubt in their mind staying here of coming here, they can jog on. 100 percent commitment or nothing at all. no in-between. imo ofcourse.
Be a shame to lose Gooch as he is so versatile but and clearly has alot of love for the club, trust us to do the right thing and not pay over the odds especially if he isn’t a guranteed starter next year
Gooch doesn’t owe us anything if he decides to leave. Would be great to have to him next year, if not, all the best
My opinion fwiw...I can't see this lad from Leicester being a go-er. I'd be happy with Patterson as No.1 he's got a great temperament and is coming on leaps and bounds. Sure we need another keeper to replace Burge but 3.5m quoted is a bit steep when we can develop Patto.
Agree no point spending 3.5m and possibly hinder Pattos development, that wouldn’t make sense on any level. We need a decent back up keeper and give Patto a real chance to show us what he’s made of
I think he's better than Embleton mate, so it's a question of improving the squad. League One Player of the Season last year with a hatful of goals and assists. I'd buy him and recoup some of the money by selling Embleton. That's how we'll move on upwards.
I think this season will be a massive one for Dan Neil, I think championship football will suit his style more and he'll get the chance to play football
It doesn't seem to make a lot of sense, but I think what is fascinating and exciting about it is that to me, that is a statement signing that would suggest promotion in the next 2 years is the aim. You don't sign a top end Championship keeper which will put an obstacle in the way of Patterson if you're happy to tread water for a couple of years.
I've not really understood our fans fascination with this lad because he'd be competing with Pritchard and Embleton... and that I assumed it would cost £6-7m to sign him. If £3m is the price, the club should be looking at him a lot more closely. Obviously being the right fit is of key importance, but I believe he can play as a striker, number 10 and wide on the left, so he'd be a good addition even if he isn't the focal point of our team every week.
