Thatcher was a worse PM but this government is the most sleaziest,corrupt, bunch of Cnuts I've seen.
Thatcher was a long time ago though, even if the witches cry still sounds recent. So Boris is still worst in a long time.
It's unfortunate that the Labour party isn't able to take advantage of the situation and either push the government into doing what it's supposed to be doing or present itself as a real threat. Keir Starmer, nice man though he appears to be, has a perpetual deer in the highlights look about him. We have a weak government and a weak opposition. I posted a comment the other week which I had seen written somewhere else that painted the picture very well of where this country is politically - it's a sad state of affairs when a birthday party has more chance of ousting the Prime Minister than the Labour party.

Sonia Purnell, Boris Johnson's biographer, tells BBCScotland’s Lunchtime Live why Partygate has not gone away.
“My mother was in a care home, I thought she was safe. She went into lockdown before the rest of us and I thought 'well that’s good, she’ll be protected'.
“But they sent out people from hospital who had Covid, they were untested. At least one was put on her floor in the care home.
“And everyone on her floor died, including my mother. I was informed by e-mail.
“I buried her the day before the Downing Street garden party, and you know there were only 10 of us allowed.”
Ms Purnell says it was a “deeply traumatic experience” and she says it is very difficult to come to terms with.
“The people who governed us, who we would normally want to rely on as having our best interests at heart, were drinking and vomiting, carrying on in a way that was totally undignified at best, almost callous in its disregard for the rest of us."

Which ministers were sat in cabinet today ignoring the waffle about tax cuts while they started to plot to build their power base pre heave?
I'd say at least 3.
They need a good rump of support to go for this as bo Jo is thst brazen he would run agai .
Last time out Johnson started with 114 or so supporters and hunt had 43.
The scum then all saw how it was going to fall and mostly piled on the buffoon.
This is then the issue 2 or 3 will be thinking to have a real go here and the usual rump of absolute racist scum like mogg will be seen as king makers if not for boris then for someone else.
Imo someone needs about 100 in their pocket to seriously go at Johnson and let the thing heave ho.
Imo this will take time and a lot of corrupt bargaining and promising so in the mean time bo Jo will be the perfect patsy as bad news follows bad news.

I can't think of very many top politicians throughout my life who would qualify for that description. This is a major problem for me, that they obviously see the job as a career, not a duty - and they think manipulation or subterfuge to stay in place is perfectly acceptable behaviour. "Discovered lying or breaking the rules? Just brass it out, it'll be ok."
Showing no shame or humility is not strength, it's arrogance.
Governance is a responsibility, but I see little understanding of that. With Boris, it comes across as though he thinks it's just a bit of a lark, like he was still playing politics at uni.
The other problem is who replaces him if he goes? Bad as he is, there seems no-one who would represent more than a marginal improvement.

Johnson and trump are similar in that they state mad things and go for anything that makes them look good there and then.
Whats the real difference
trump decides a photo op holding a bible at a church after it was burned a bit in a riot looks great.... he ignores the fact that his orders lead to riot police hammering through a crowd to clear a path for it.
Johnson flies to Ukraine for a photo op with a chicken and the president of Ukraine.. probably harmed very few people but its still just a photo op. how about Johnson pulling stunts every time in NI that something comes up and creates chaos with EU relations.
the sole difference between biden and trump in terms of effectiveness as a leader is one knows a boundary and doesn't cross it
The tories in general seem to me to have reached the point of fiddling while rome burns. They have been in for 12 years, since brown lost in 2010. the lib dems didn't stop their noses i nthe trough.
I honeslty think they are in far too long to keep them honest and all these antics are purely down to they GENUINELY don't think they'll get voted out next time round.
My go forward policy having seen 1997 to 2010 labour and 2010 to 2024? Tories would be a STRICT rotational policy. someone would have to be ****ing steallar for me to get a second term as it will just keep them honest"er" at the very least.
All that rotation would bring is each incumbent trying to **** everything up as comprehensively as possible towards the end of its tenure so that the next lot look worse.
I agree with the "Biden argument" bit. Both Trump and Boris are cartoon characters. It amazes me that anyone votes for them - but then I remember that people would vote for Homer Simpson if he stood for their party.
there is that but thats a small price to pay as electorates have long memories for people who **** things up for them.

I hardly hear anything from Biden, tbh - but every time Trump opened his mouth utter nonsense spewed from it. I'm not talking about stuff I happen to disagree with, but plain stupidity.
I read something recently that I found quite interesting. The author was wondering whether MP's like Rishi Sunak (who has a green card to work in the US) are fully committed to the country and it's history when they have no long standing connections to it. Sunak, for example, could be off to America in a flash if the right job offer came along.
Do you mean the national election or the Democratic primaries? I'm not a Biden fan, but if it's a choice between him and Trump...
It's a shame the Democrats (or Republicans, for that matter) couldn't find anyone better. It think he was seen as a reasonably safe pair of hands with the best chance of beating Trump.
I think that comes back to the earlier point of career vs duty. A lot of politicians could be of if the right job offer came along, whether or not they have foreign connections.

I don't know about that. I was just remembering part of an article I read. I found it interesting because in all honesty I don't pay much attention to politics and had no idea that the Tory party had a good number of MP's either not born in the country or of parents not born in the country. I didn't even know that Boris was born in America!
Biden has fallen back into the safe politician doing nothing mould where the civil service can breathe a sigh of relief and reorganise itself for a period.

Biden was picked by the democrats as they really had no other candidate who could tell bernie saunders to not run. If a self professed commie traitor like Saunders (exaggeration) was against trump it was going to be a massive youth thing but all the states that MATTERED would have just stayed red.
trump could lose the popular vote but win the rust belt three states and romp home. Now in a couple years trump might get trump jnr to run but the democrats probably have a clearer field to find some sort of half acceptable candidate that's not a commie nor senile. the problem is it could be the VP.
Yank politics falls into clear divisions where the senate is Red (50 states, enough reds to carry most of the time Washington DC and Puerto Rico will never be allowed statehood as they are blue) , the house can be blue based on population but then the presidency fall back to the electoral college.
It really doesn't matter how many new yorkers or Californians vote blue or how many Texans or Floridan's vote red. these are "given" what matters is pennsilvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, virginia. theres 46 vote swing in PA, MI,WI
clinton 227, Trump 304 a 92 vote wing would mean 273 v 258
Biden 306, trump 232 . same 3 states.
I am willing to predict hand on heart TODAY that biden has already lost PA. he has said out loud that burning coal burns the planet.
trump will pile in on a climate change denying campaign and will seek to turn those 3 states.
If biden and democrats were wise they'd spend about a trillion making these 3 states blue environmental heartlands where jobs and money flow from renewables.

Our own system is first past the post. people cannot vote for greens as its a waste of time.
it really is vote tory or labour to make a change. the system is firmly rigged towards big parties and we simply don't have 3 of those. not really. we have a fundamentally broken scottish system where a one topic party dominates and lid dems have been wiped out totally.
As a result the lib dems are irrelevant for anything bar being a whipping boy in a coalition.
Our current EU crises is down to Theresa may madness of calling an election and ended up with numbers meaning the madness of NI politics being writ lar ge over all EU deals. Had she not gone to people we would likely not seen boris and done a much tamer EU deal and not had the bother the NI parties are whining about today.
In the end Ulster said no to everything so johnson side-lined them and did a deal that fundamentally shafted their position.
First past the post is biting us now because of scotland and NI basket case one topic politics. Labour cannot win without scotland. PERIOD. that means automatically everyone in england voting is voting for labour/snp even if neither party admits it and IMO thats where the torys then get the votes.
in yank land you have to give up your citizenship anywhere else to be a citizen so tories with us passports are not uk citizens. they have sworn to USA and are just pretending here
