There have been two coworkers I've worked with at different jobs who I always assumed were gay.... Thought both were pretty flaming. Both turned out to have wives and kids. <laugh>

I no longer assume someone is gay unless they specifically say they are.

Why would you anyway? Only time it would be relevant is if you're interested in having sexual interaction with them

I have never and would never ask anyone about their sexual preferences. It either reveals itself at some point or stays hidden when a person appears to never have any partners. Either way, it's none of my business. I know several effeminate men who are straight (funnily enough none of them like football). <whistle>

Wasn't really intending to but switched Don bbc there and the "pagent" for the queen's jubilee is on.

**** me there's more clapped out whatever you calm these "acts" than crowds.

The lfc disappointment tour with two trophies was jammed. This is like a really bad marde gras or St Patrick's day parade.

    Wow.

They really are dragg8ng the last vestiges out of this now.

    Boris Johnson

Doesn't appeal to tories principles or says he has a job to do.

No he goes right to the heart of why politics is corrupt. He will apparently win for the tories next Time out.

And after all what does a few parties or an apartment refurbishment or a few backhanders for his mates compare to that?

Bo Jo defenders promising a big old speech on economy next week if they just don't vote him out.

First tickle the self interest then go to naked bribes.

They must be worried that so many vote against that he can't just brush it off.

I'm sure he wins this btw but how many votes against put him in lame duck territory? 100? 150?

Surely he has to be considered a liability for the next general election. The Tories won't want someone that will give Labour MPs votes for free as people vote just to keep Boris out.

They will balance the scales of if the public will vote for him and his naked racist and xenophobic agenda combined with free for all tax cuts.

None care how many died in covid, forgotten.

None seem to care about partying or lies either.

It is entirely down to him and rabb bribing the public for their seats

    Line is 180.

    That's 50% plus 1.

It took 4? Months to scrape up 54 letters to start the 1922 committee process so my question is purely is will it come to 100 against or more.

    211 to 148.

That's as bad as I thought actually possible.

    Worse than May.

148 against is 3 times the majority.

All they need do now is force him out if they want.

I'd much rather Theresa May still be PM than Boris. I'd much rather Piglet banger too. It's been a long time since the UK had a worse PM (if indeed they ever did).

Thatcher is still significantly the worst PM in my lifetime, in my opinion - but Boris has managed the impressive feat of at least giving her a run for her money.

More pandemic rule breaking by Starmer emerged today. Another meeting in some other Labour headquarters with people from all over the country at the time when family bubbles and immediate work colleagues only bubbles were the order of the day. Honestly, nobody looks good atm. A thief who steals £1,000 and a thief who steals £10 are both still thieves. 'Ah yes but I didn't steal as much as him' doesn't wash with me. Also emerging that a 'party' occurred while Boris was in hospital.

What happens if they hold a general election and nobody votes? I think the country is sick of both parties.

If there's a contract, written or verbal, that all parties agree to abide by then it doesn't matter who proposed the rules. You agree to them then you abide by them - all rule breakers are equally guilty. Part of the problem is pointing the finger knowing you've broken the rules too.

Sorry JB, but this is a variation on a tu qouque fallacy (whataboutery in common terms)
Whatever Starmer does has no bearing on judgement of what Johnson does. There is no mitigation in pointing out similar transgressions in others.
Boris Johnson is a thoroughly incompetent politician. He isn't even a bad person, imo - he's just thick.
He has none of the qualities required of a serious leader - whether or not Starmer would be better is a separate issue.

Assuming all is true. From it, I conclude BoJo is definitely a twat and it turns out Starmer might be one too.

You're right. Doesn't excuse BoJo, but means there is more than one scumbag in town.

This result just confirms the tory leadership race is officially on.

Whatever barefaced lies and rubbish is spouted at the plebs we all know in private they are sharpening their daggers. Just won't be as long as the ides of March.

Although I do agree with you that you can't mitigate Boris's 'crime' based on Starmer's actions, Starmer has to be held to the same standard. So whilst what Starmer does has no bearing on the judgement, it very much has a bearing when assessing his character, that he can vociferously point out and call for drastic action on the same flaw that he possesses himself. The role of the opposition is to hold the government to account; far more credible if you can do that without acting with impunity yourself.
