In fact, the only monarchs that should hold our attention are the Middle-Eastern ones. 21st Century rulers with 14th century mentality.

Once upon a time monarchies dictated world events and screwed it up by themselves, these days they do little more than watch and mumble. Who are the big bad players on the world stage? It ain't Norway, Sweden, Denmark, The Netherlands, etc. The only reason the UK has any influence at all is because we act like one of America's attack dogs.
The presidential system might seem attractive in theory, but in practice it's miserable.
US, Russia, Brazil etc, nothing to aspire to there.
In truth, it's human nature that's the issue here, whatever the system of power it allows its own exploitation for personal agenda. The people who seek power are, by their very nature, the last people who should be entrusted with it.
President, Prime Minister, oligarch, plutocrat - they're all the real power behind any throne. Imo we should be directing our energies at them, not at an archaic establishment with nominal influence.

Have the advantage of learning from others mistakes. Don't need to base it on US system, I certainly wouldn't. Heck, be a bit pointless, bit could even have a purely ceremonial elected head of state.

Have to wonder how Dan James plays for Wales. Any time seen him he’s looked awful with no end product. Brennan Johnson come on and done more in 2 minutes. Looks a quality player and be interesting if forest can keep him this year or if bigger clubs will take a risk on him

Depends on what Russia does I guess. If Ukraine ceases to exist and becomes a province of Russia maybe not... But if Ukraine has a new puppet government like much of Eastern Europe during the cold war, then I guess they would still compete. (Countries with Russian Puppet governments in Eastern Europe competed during the cold war).

Most likely Ukraine will be split into east and west when this is done.
 
Apparently Souness said before the Scotland game that Ukraine should be given a place in the WC regardless. Not sure how that would have worked solely based on numbers. It's not going to happen anyway but what do people think about the idea?

Found some stuff on this.....maybe Ukraine could be in a group with Iraq,Syria and Yemen <laugh>

Souness was at thisnprior to Scotland game.

The world doesn't work like that.

They actually have to fight off the Russian hordes and they don't get a free ride somewhere they didn't qualify
