Look at Chelsea - they had James, Lamptey and Tino all at right back and around the same age

They also swiped Mount, Colwill, Anjorin and no doubt a few others from the south coast. Basically anyone half decent we could have had in recent years have gone to Chelsea instead as it really isn’t that far away and if the parents can be moved into leafy Surrey it is a no brainer

That’s not to mention the players actually taken from our academy such as the one taken by Man City. You’d think that shouldn’t be allowed either but then you get into complex issues where they could claim you are basically trapping a minor and/or the parents could claim they need to move for work. Conveniently to Manchester or the like
Saw an interview on TV about Chelsea, they were loosing about £900k a month which was being picked up by Roman A, no wonder they come collect footballers like playing cards
Sadly we are at the opposite end of the scale regarding players

We're favourites to sign him at 2/1 but until the odds go below evens they're just guessing really. And it probably just means a load of money has been put on Pope joining Saints.

Load of money = about a tenner.

These markets are verrrry easy to manipulate as lots of people (friends, family, staff at clubs etc) will know where a footballer is going to end up before the media/bookies do so bookies are terrified of getting burned so any bet on this market shifts the odds hugely.

I tried to get a few grand on Hassenhuttl to us after DTLW or someone posted on here, the most any bookies would let me bet was £50

Obviously bookies odds mean next to nothing but Nick Pope would be a good transfer. Still a decent age for a keeper and can't be mega expensive with burnley relegated.

I know West Ham were interested but they appear to have gone for Areola so already have 2 keepers. Other than that I have seen Fulham linked but you'd think we were a better option in that case.

I would be very happy with Pope. My only question would be what he would be like playing out from the back given that wasn't Burnley's style but a great shot stopper and a clear upgrade on both McCarthy and Forster.

Yeah, I'm not sure how good he would be with the ball at his feet but its not as if either Forster or McCarthy were any good in that department either.

An experienced premier league signing would be a good step in the right direction for the new ownership.

:emoticon-0148-yes: I wrote a few comments & thought better of it. Didn’t wan to upset the apple cart.
I was worried my comment may have offended catholics. I would hate to offend anyone religious, honestly it’s the last thing I would want to do.

Last month it was Islam, this month Catholicism. Stay tuned for next month’s slightly offensive comment about another religion.
