Love the camera when showing the teams, you could see the County ground in the shadow of Forest.

I visited Maine Rd a few times, like Goodison it had its day. Rumours that United could be looking at a possible move due to expansion issues due to train line.
United and it’s fans will still be the same, same as when it was a cinder covered car park and club shop was 3 porta kabins in late 80’s.

Aye Maine Road had, had its day but the change in ground to the Etihad was coupled with a significant influx of wealth, a change of ownership and identity which only added to a break from the past for the club which is impacting on the apathy from fans towards it now.

You quoted a post and never read it? What part of "feeling genuinely connected to the club and all its ever stood for" did you not get?

Yes I did read it, I was mainly responding to this bit:

When you turn up to a bus parade for winning a league title, it isn't just that generation of players and their success but how they link to padt success and history of the club.

Which is the biggest load of tripe I've ever read on this forum. Along with your post yesterday about the media hating United I'm worried that you've started taking Sucky pills

I don't understand the genuine connection comment either. Just seems a bizarre dig if I'm being honest.

personally I don’t agree. You are welcome to your opinion.

I think National League standard is better than League 2....I wish they would merge them tbph, to a North and South. You would get some decent local fixtures then.

Which part of that quote is tripe mate? Are you telling me that fans that turn up to a bus parade don't feel any connection to the history or past success of a club?

Dig at who? Fck knows what you're on about. My only reason for posting is to explain how I see the apathy of City fans nowadays.

would make sense and also reduce costs for the clubs travelling/better players/wages and facilities. Attracting more fans etc.

Yup, if they were merged already, my lot would get what would be a massive fixture against Maidstone who are getting promoted, then we'd have games at the likes of Bromley, Barnet, Southend. Previous seasons would have seen the likes of Dover and Ebbsfleet. As it is we are stuck in a virtually Northern League.

Within the context of the conversation it carried the implication that those without that history don't enjoy the celebrations as much cos they've got nothing to relate it to.

Fair enough if I got that wrong but it very much came across as a 'this means more' type of post and I clearly wasn't the only one who read it in that way.

In terms of apathy then I think there's a lot of that across the league now tbh. No club really relates to what they were 30 years ago as the game has moved on. It's not like United are still the same club with the same values as they were in the early 90s.

When my lot played Man City in the L1 play-off final, my lot took 45,000 fans, where the fook did they all come from <laugh>

Man City took 31k <whistle>

probably some Newcastle fans looking for City beef.
Remember watching that game in the pub, felt like a Liverpool fan. Nicky Weaver the city hero that day.

won’t be many out at the parade who will know who he is.

In other news i might have to complain to Top Trumps about the spider packet including 'Incy Wincy Spider' and an imaginary creature from a film <doh>

Nipper has a bit of a meltdown when I said we're not playing with them.
