hate to say it again ...but... once again (everton/brentford) we see just how bad VAR can be, richarlison almost has his shirt pulled off in brentfords penalty area which allows the clearance which lead to the first sending off, if 'shirt-tugging' or 'holding back' is a yellow card anywhere else on the field then it should be the same in the box, either that or the only thing is to allow it all the time.

so once again the game was decided with a bad decision...in the good old days there was a chance the ref or his assistant could have missed it but now there is no excuse at all yet they still get it wrong, i am all for a system that balances play and leads to the correct decision, after all, with all the camera angles now once we see the 'evidence' we cannot argue IF they make the right call but far too often we see the wrong call being made with some limp wristed excuse from the F.A.

if used correctly i welcome it to our final, especially the way WW tend to play but i just have this ever so slight feeling that we will be left wondering if it really is the future of football.

Terrible decision for me. How can you not use it all season then bring it in for 1 game. I really hope the officials are all premier league ones who are used to it but as there is a full premier league card the day after it will be slim pickings.

Just announced:

Referee: Simon Hooper
Assistant Referees: Adam Crysell and Craig Taylor
Fourth Official: Tim Robinson
Reserve Assistant Referee: Greg Read
VAR: Lee Mason
AVAR: Matthew Wilkes

seen this earlier... is lee mason not one of our 'mates' from our premier years?

rather like kevin friend, one or two decisions went our way but in the main they never seemed to want to give us anything...my memory may be cloudy on this mind.

Can't remember it being used in anger, the penalty shout on Roberts perhaps but that had already been called for offside.
Wonder if it affected WW approach to things, we'll probably never know.

You were right on both counts, got everything right pretty much and let the game flow. I'd guess it was a decent watch for neutrals despite the lack of real drama.

Thought it was a blatant pen on Roberts mind but that was Lee Mason's call I believe.

I thought that, if it was a game that “mattered” to them, the decisions they made in not giving the pen would’ve taken a lot longer. Just felt like it was completely irrelevant to them so they won’t take more than one look. Had it been Liverpool or Spurs or City, they’d likely have taken minutes rather than second (or no time at all)

Aye I thought the same, it'd have to be the most obvious decision in the world for it'd to be given, anything that required a small amount of forensic analysis gets a meh play on.

Really hope we have Roberts next season he seems to have a great mentality and he'll give defenders in the championship headaches for sure. I suspect from his finishing he's not playing with full confidence so there's more to come.

The offside call was the first one which was correct, the second one where 2 ww players came either side of him was a definite instead we got a corner

I didn't think it was, just the premier league
I wasn't sure with all the playoff announcements wether I'd missed something about it being used in championship. I can't see anything confirmed but I just wonder why they would bring it in for the finals. :emoticon-0112-wonde

To showcase how amazing it is and prepare everyone for it coming in in the league?

Kevin Friend was never been friendly for us.
Lee Mason has been a bit more generous - but I could be wrong.
I thought he was good overall and seemed to get most things right on Saturday.
We didn't get the penalty but we didn't go down to 10 men either.
