Match Day Thread Southampton v Liverpool

Due to work I never got to see the first half. Second half I started watching about 5 minutes before Matip scored. I’m sorry but performance from what I was was pretty garbage. Too much tossing it off between. the midfield, defenders and the goalkeeper. Very little imagination and running between the lines. We may have had 70% possession but that’s because Southampton couldn’t be arsed to run around, too lazy to make the effort so they just just let us have the ball .

10 goals from 24 games this season in all comps. 9 starts.

For essentially a 7th choice striker show me a better return anywhere in the world.
1 in 2 conversion ratio, 2nd best goals per 90 (after Div)
Like you say, not bad for someone so low down the pecking order. This is why we now have a stronger squad, because we have players like this we can fall back on.

Tonight proved that there are five Championship sides in the PL, two of which will survive - Leeds or Burnley and Southampton. Everton have PL quality but have played like a NL side, or worse, for much of the season. And it will be reepated next season, with again, two surviving. Perhaps Southampton need a spell in the Championship to rediscover their mojo.

The apathy last night at Southampton was stark. We outsung them for most of it. The fans and players and manager just were not there really.

Everton is an interesting case. A conspiraist might say moshiri was only ever a front for a Russian fascist and the money is gone. Sell pickford, richarilson and Claverton Lewis and see who is going down

Leeds are abject this year but we're great last year

Burnely are what they are.

Brentford on the other hand are a breath of fresh air as they were not afraid to have a go and all of thst

Brighton for me are the model. They are genuinely having a go at the thing. It's not just 40 points target.

Wolves have been driven by an agent and some deals.

Palace with Vieira.might temporarily have a go.

West sham are a sham.

We now have a top 7. Newcastle have joined the sport washers to be a 3.

5th actually. Bobby has 11
Salah 30 from 49
Mane 22 from 49
Jota 21 from 53
Bobby 11 from 33
Mini 10 from 24
Fab 8 from 47
Diaz 6 from 24 (needs to up those numbers next year for all his good work and excitement)
Origi 6 from 18
Keita 4 from 28
Hendo 3 from 55
Ox 3 from 29
Matip 3 from 41
Konate 3 from 27
vvd 3 from 50
TAA 2 from 45
robno 2 from 45
Thiago 2 from 37
Jones 1 from 27
Gordon 1 from 4
elliot 1 from 4

Spread the goals around a lot. Used to be that none of our midfielders would ever score. Nice to see them chip in with a few as well as the defenders

Didn't think Bobby had double figures but nor had I checked

According to the people who calculate these things, there's a 14% chance it could.

City have dropped points in 25% of games. So have we. So that's about 19% chance of winning premier league if City and us have average opposition.

Wolves tougher than Villa... So yeah 14%-15% chance of Premier League win has to be fairly accurate.

We're also favourites against Madrid. So if 60% chance of winning the CL that gives us overall odds of maybe about 9% winning the quad.
