Good luck to the kid, brave move. Just hope the fans of opposing clubs don't make him regret this with constant moronic chants towards him

You would like to think that would be stamped out by others around them and certainly by the club concerned

Justin Fashanu came out 30 years ago or something, was he not the 1st............sick of hearing about it, how this makes national news headlines is ridiculous, theres a war going on and some 17 year old gay kid gets all the headlines. Its almost as if the media are creating an outrage again

I haven't read any headlines only know about it cause its on here, are the media reporting it negatively like?

Justin Fashanu might have been the first but as far as I'm aware, a bit young to remember it first hand, he didn't get any support from the media, fans or his own brother and it ultimately lead to his death? This is the first since then and it's a chance to do support him right this time.

The media have been going on for years about there being no openly gay professional footballers in the modern era. What with them being afraid to come out within the confines of the laddish culture amongst the players and supporters. I think he deserves plaudits for breaking down the barrier, but now that he has done then that should be the end of it. Hopefully the next one will come out and there be little, if any, fanfare. Folk should only have to come out to family and friends, if they want to. They shouldnt be coming out to the sporting world. Hopefully in future, from now on, they wont have to.

Open the skysports app its on there, open the bbc app its there, its in all the newspapers, its on the radio, none of it negative.
Justin Fashanu hung himself not along after he was wanted for a sexual assault. Not so sure he killed himself because of his sexuality.

Fair enough as I said I was too young to remember so didn't recall the sexual assault bit, just knew it was all over the papers he was gay.

I agree by the way it shouldn't be news and hopefully it won't be in the future but first in a long time to come out was always going to be news with the media tripping over themselves to be understanding.

I personally don't believe a player should feel any need to let people know about their sexuality but the media have to report it ans show support imo.

Most will probably be comfortable with it, I would, but those that aren’t will get chastised for it and that’s wrong as well.

Dodgy in what way ?? Just because he is gay doesnt mean he wants to hump the arse off every team mate in the dressing room, you can work with people who are attractive and not fancy them. We have very pretty women at work but I dont look at them as sexual objects, my wife is pretty but it was actually her sense of humour that attracted me the most. The view that every gay man or woman have no standards of attraction and are happy with any cock or minge is the real problem here. I have never felt comfortable naked in front of any man regardless of their sexual preference, it was an unwritten rule that you maintained eye contact when showering after footy in my day. Far too much being made of this, hopefully this lad coming out puts an end to what the media hope will be a big thing.
