I think it’s very possible. I mean I hope they do the double anyway and win the FA Cup for obvious reasons but their pedigree in Europe makes them favourites I’d say for that, then it’s just relying on City to slip up, which I can see happening.

Bad day for Forest. Bryan Roy has been sent to jail for 40 days for threatening the Dutch PM.
He's gone full Matt le Tissier, apparently.

To do it would be an amazing achievement, but especially in this era of the money clubs like PSG, City and Chelsea

Yeah agree, it’s just a shame it has to be them to topple the money sides as I’ll still be hearing about it until the day I snuff it.

Villarreal gave us hope, then bottled it.
They have four ex-Spurs players in their team.

Luckily I don’t pay for Sky Sports and rarely watch pre match or post match stuff but I can just imagine how unbearable Carragher is going to be for the foreseeable

Then Chelsea would still be benefiting from Abramovich....

Yep. With Sevilla. Went the entire season without winning away in the league, finished 7th, but won the Europa League (ironically beat Liverpool in the final), so they got CL football. That was his final season with them before he went to PSG. Not a bad way to sign off I guess.

However, as well as he's done at Villarreal, his approach highlights his shortcomings. He's an excellent cup manager, but he seems to prioritise cups over league the deeper he gets into those competitions. Which is far too risky IMO. He did the same with us lot and we all saw how that ended up...

Currently, Villarreal are 7th in their league, which qualifies them for a Europa Conference League play-off spot at the moment.
Bilbao are only 1 point behind them though, so even that's not guaranteed.

Definitely worth sticking a tenner on them to win the Europa Clown League next season though (assuming they qualify for it)

Chelsea have been warned their future is on the line after Government ruled out sale delays amid fears Roman Abramovich is reneging on his promise to write off a £1.6billion debt.

Ministers believe time is running out on the May 31 licence deadline and are understood to be flatly refusing the prospect of more negotiations allowing Abramovich to claw back funds.

The sanctioned Russian billionaire had promised in a statement when he put the club up for sale at the start of March that he would write off the huge sums that the club still owes him.

And if he officially wrote the loan off, they would still be benefiting
(1000s of millions of debt the club never has to honour) .

Whatever Chelsea are sold for, the UK govt is determined that
not a penny of it will currently end up in Romans' hands.
The haggling now is how big that inaccessible sum should
be (in order that a new owner will make the purchase) .

So is it the case that he is chasing that loan back because otherwise he won't get a penny from the sale of a club he raised from middling relevance to a global force?

Your first point is the reason why he can't be allowed to write the loan off. Chelsea would be receiving a gift from a sanctioned person.

That leaves a big difficulty with the sale. The Government probably needs to confiscate the company that the loan comes from first.
