I actually thought prior kick off that we were playing a back 4 of Uncle sanderson dunne and mcallum. How very naive of me to 2nd guess that master tactian!
Moses can play with both feet..and so can play on both sides. It is a good thing to have a dominant foot on the side you play on...When it comes to whipping crosses across field whilst moving at pace, it’s hard to do that if you’re not using your strong foot (so if you’re left-footed you want to be crossing from the left).. like wise..if you on the left you are usually countered by a right footed player. Making it easier to counter. If you find that hard...it is even more noticeable on the hockey pitch
The game. Not worth talking about. Dickie - body language says gone as he did s lap. Charlie. Waved goodbye twice. Warbs. Given. Uncs had his boots removed by a kid who ran off with them. Hanging up your boots?? Ball,.Moses and Wallace all potential leavers. There was not much enthusiasm from any of the players as they did a lap. Unless there is some incredible master plan to be unveiled, next season is not going to go well.
I agree about the crossing (depending on how good at crossing one actually is). Moses is right footed, hes slightly more comfortable on his left foot than other options and his pace enables him to recover better than other options, hence him filling in there when necessary. The countering points you make are actually the opposite, when a left footed player goes down the wing, its a natural tackling position for a right footed full back. Many coaches switch wingers for this reason, amongst others. Warbles didnt play our best midfielder at centre back because he was left footed, he played him there because he is clueless. But we are splitting hairs as wasnt our goal from a right sided defender crossing with his left?
It baffles me how players at this level can't use both feet proficiently, when I was growing up I'd spend hours shooting and crossing with my weaker foot to improve it. It's seriously a joke how few players these days even at a high level can only use 1 foot. Even the other night Salah had 2 shots right footed and they just dribbled towards the goal as if my cat had shot !
Sanderson is quite frankly turd, Wolves will either be loaning him out again next season or selling him to some poor unexpecting chumps.
The embarrassing thing about last night is it was televised, shockingly lame performance and probably the worst since Paul Hart's brief reign...
The players couldn't even turn up for the managers farewell home game and the last of the season for the fans. A utterly abject performance. It is truly scary how far we have fallen in the space of 2-3 months. Very worrying for next season. Gone from real optimism for the future of the club to real concern in such a short space of time.
From loftforwords twitter account... And there, after everybody has gone, goes a 28 year old, left sided, always available centre back. Waving to the stragglers. Because we haven’t spoken to him either. This club is having an absolute raving nonsense with itself atm. I thought I clapped all the players of the field... so this happened even later than that and separately. Wtf is going on.... We had seemed to have turned the corner in PR, doing and saying the right things at the right moment....but the last few weeks we have gone into cluster**** mode. Like someone has lost control of the reigns... Is it something deeper than just end of an era....or am I just paranoid
The CEO and Director of Football need to make a clear statement on their approach to appointing a new manager and renewing contracts. This ‘we don’t discuss contracts until the season is over’ is bullshit. I imagine the collapse in form - the results and even more so the performances - has been a crushing blow to owners who I seem to remember are chucking £1.5m a month at the club to keep it afloat. A collective black dog might have set in.
We absolutely did not have to play Field at ****ing centre back. We have played with a flat back 4 recently, but Mr tinker-bollocks had to change it again. We were completely over run in midfield and Field would have made a big difference in there. Anyway, I'm sure no one is going to change their opinion on Warbs.
But there would be many players leaving even if Warburton were staying. There will be a big re-build needed whoever is in charge. I just hope people give the new coach a chance, as nearly all coaches tend to fail when it comes to winning promotion or cups.
What an utterly depressing, moribund evening that was. I schlepped across London after a horror of a working week to see the final game for MW as I felt it the right thing to wave him off and show some appreciation for his efforts. I can’t begin to second guess what has happened to the band of brothers we saw in January, to end up concluding with a half hearted, end of season saunter around the ground in a sad, shoe staring, apologetic cheerio. Such a staggering decline. I wonder if maybe it’s time for Sir Les to move on, ditch the DoF role and give a new manager a more free reign to sculpt his own show.
It's very depressing, even worse because we've gone from a place of such optimism (a QPR rarity) to a massive slump and an entirely unknown future. I've previously lauded the job Hoos and SLF have done but right now it feels like the kind of **** that used to happen under Tony Fernandes. Seems so reckless. I don't know enough about the ins and outs of the DoF role to really make a judgement but one thing that could and should be improved is the comms with the fans, this cloak and dagger **** just let's rumour and speculation fester, just be honest with us.
You won't be surprised to hear that I don't think the decision to let Warburton go is reckless. I do wonder what the point of Les is though.
