We’re miles behind clubs with people like Jones and Cooper in charge

Although Forest was in a mess, I still think Jones and Cooper had easier starting points. Morison is having to overcome seasons of ingrained prehistoric football.

And a raft of overpaid players not up to championship football, or perpetually injured.
Makes getting more bodies in difficult.
I feel the end of this season and the next one is the one step back we need to take in order to take two forward.

We'll, I didn't see the whole game, only patches of it and literally missed their goal by about 30 seconds, but sounded like an error/lapse of concentration by Nelson?

In all honesty, as disappointing as the result was, the majority of what I saw was us controlling the game but then being unable to unpick a resolute and determined Luton side who have been in very decent form.

The switch to having more measure and control in our play is palpable and we are clearly heading in the right direction, however painfully slowly.

By comparison, I watched the Wurzels v Sheff Utd too.... Although in some respects they got a deserved draw, their football (long balls out, hitting quickly on the break) was reminiscent of us over the last 5 years.
I know which side I preferred watching play!!

To echo Clingo, Rome wasn't built in a day and neither will our rebuild be that swift either. Morison is going to need a couple of windows to get us into the shape he wants and with next to no money available lots of patience will be required.

Assuming he has the managerial and man management skills to do it.

Some recent results and performances mean the jury is out for me at present.

For me BfB, Jacks result aside he's done pretty well with what he has at his disposal.

He's had to try shuffle the pack a bit, move some old heads (and legs) to one side whilst trying to implement our new style.
No mean feat in half a season....

We're now into total trial and experimental time and can expect some disjointed performances and results to match.

    Couldn't agree more.
He got us safe against the odds and has now started the pre-season nice and early. Furthermore, he's doing what we've been begging for.

I watched the League One Rotherham/Ipswich game on the box on Saturday and both teams would have beaten us on the day. Rotherham will probably be up here next season along with Wigan who have been good all season. The Hull game and again yesterday facing an organised, hard working but nothing special side emphasised how poor we currently are in finding a way to beat them.

I'm not suggesting we can't improve just that we need to, because despite the difficult times all round in football, there's nothing to suggest that other teams already here are going to stand still. The three coming down won't be hanging about either.

It's not a question of a few tweaks here and there. This summer clearout of out of contract and rebuild opportunity needs to be pretty fundamental. There isn't any area of the pitch that will hold it's own next season - front, middle or back - and that includes the keeper for me. He's made a significant start with what he's got, but I think Morison really has got his work cut out.

    Agreed Sparks.

We have youngsters with potential but need to be encouraged to a higher level in both ability and consistency. Colwill can do it and I am very hopeful for Denham and Connolly.

The others who have played a part this season I'm not so sure.

For me Harris, for his undoubted effort, is a yard slow, doesn't get into scoring positions enough, and when he does he doesn't have a great finish.

Davies burst onto the scene with some game changing work but now opponents have seen him he has been worked out. Possibly will get better with improved service from midfield.

Eli King, I don't know? What type of midfielder is he? I can't tell from what I have seen.

Apart from Connolly none of the loaners are setting the world on fire. Brown is playing regularly but won't be staying. Whyte has gone off the boil and I have heard little of the others.

Assuming at least 7 of those out of contract go then Morison will have to put in a real shift to rebuild. The 3 quoted look positive although Hector hadn't played much recently.

It will be an interesting 2 to 3 months. If he can get most of his incoming work done early that will be a boost for pre seasons. Inward loans don't normally get done until the latter part of the window so I guess we will have to wait to see if Drameh or Doyle or any other Prem gems come to us.

There's absolutely no question that Mr Morison will have his work cut out but that's nothing new for him. He's already started the process of instilling a new (for us) way of playing and this alone has benefits beyond simply making us easier on the eye. I'm pretty certain that we wouldn't have got Drameh or Doyle on loan if he hadn't changed things.

It isn't rocket science to identify that we would benefit from new faces to lead a charge up the table. However, we have to accept that there are huge financial restraints in addition to a possible £15m debt still lingering.

I'm all for ambition - what football fan isn't? I want us to win every game we play. However, after years of going backwards in terms of results, finances and style of play, the time has come to apply the breaks and look to the medium and long term future of the club. We have to be realistic and acknowledge that we can't buy success - and personality I wouldn't want that - but instead have to make positive progress within the afore mentioned constraints. So far, SM has been successful in exactly that and I trust him to continue the progress. For us fans, it's about having patience and appreciating the change of culture. This is not blind faith but an opinion based on achievements to date.
