Totally agree…as soon as you question anything regarding unlimited immigration and the issues that this would bring, the accusations of racism will surely come. It happens all the time
Yep. Same applies to having any grown up debate about the NHS. Any questioning of it's current status is immediately shut down with cries of privatisation etc.
A Ukranian mum and kids are desperate to get home to their menfolk. And while they're in the UK won't stab people or blow them up
So every Syrian is now a jihadist? Come on, you're better than that I hope....almost all Islamic terrorist incidents on UK soil have been carried out by British nationals who have been radicalised, not by Syrian refugees.
The British nationals you speak of are 2nd generation immigrants from Islamic Middle Eastern or North African families. First generation immigrants are generally grateful to have a British way of life, second generation looking for an identity can be resentful and occasionally capable of acts of the most extreme forms of violence against the most vulnerable in our society. Security is a huge issue.
So how does that paint every Syrian refugee as a murdering terrorist wanting to "stab people or blow them up"? Seeing as they would be first generation immigrants?
But doesn’t that go against your original point then Goldie ? So by your, now, thinking…..as Syrian refugees would be first generation immigrants, wouldn’t they be “grateful for a British way of life” ? Surely it’s their unborn kids who we should be looking out for then ? (If I’m getting your thinking right)
I blame you, Ubes. You asked me a question and I answered it. Who mentioned unlimited immigration? No one was accusing anyone of racism either, but then Goldie popped up with something that was racist.
No immigration controls and the concept of “no borders” is mentioned on numerous occasions, both by my former friends in Anarchist circles. In fact, and not saying you’re an anarchist, when I mentioned the likes of Paul Embery and his well thought out concerns regarding unlimited immigration, you expressed your thoughts that he was racist.
Since we cannot take every refugee that wants to come to the UK - there are potentially millions on the move from Africa - we can decide who we want to take, and I'd say those from Eastern Europe, from the Far East and Central and South Africa should head the queue from a security point of view. The Gulf States take almost no refugees. Let them take them from neighbouring countries. Let them deal with next Islamic State. For me, if there is a section of society that is consistently producing mass murderers of innocents including children, be it first or second generation, then other nationalities go to the front of the queue for taking as refugees, based purely on security issues.
Good job you weren't peddling your views back in the 70s and 80s as there'd be no Irish living over here now
The Irish immigrants that came into the UK during the height of the Troubles were vetted and surveilled heavily. Had Ireland been situated in the Middle East at the time, I'm damn sure we would have had fewer Irish immigrants. As it was, of course, Ireland had special status having been part of the UK until its Independence
The UK complained at the UN about a very bad human rights situation in Rwanda last year citing concerns over continuing restrictions to civil and political rights and media freedom. Would be more appropriate to send the UK government there as refugees rather than the actual ones. Let the liars and hypocrites taste that.
