I actually think its about us having a squad of limited ability although I dont expect you to agree.
I think we have a decent squad that overachieved in the first half of the season but once teams worked out how to play us we are not diversely talented enough to change the tactics.
I also feel that the dip in form has made us afraid to play. When did you last see Dickie going on one of those Roederesque runs?
Yes, there's a clear loss of confidence following all the injuries and the loss of form of key especially attacking players that has got worse with the bad results.

Hendrick was bought in to cover a failing Johansen.

Sanderson was bought in as cover for one of the back 3 gettinginjured or suspended

To me it is still a sensible window.

I would have loved a striker...but person or money wasn't there...

However why did Sandersons inclusion involved shuffling the others around so much. It has affected the ability and confidence of our 3 CBs badly

I do not think we or any team could cope with Willcock injury and Chairs lack of ability after his ( non platying) time away with Morocco

The goalie situation is farcical. And regardless of what you think...it changes the dynamics of the defence.. imparts a lack of confidence...Dieng had it....but no-one else has had time to develop a relationship

And finally... Dykes mysterious injury....that has gone on and on...and he is now half the player he was in autumn (mind you he never was a goal machine)

I think we have been found out...as said above. We have been found out.

Early in season with Chair Willock and Adomeh.who to mark..double up on one...and the other run riot.

Now, teams mark Chair out of the game...leave us with the ball...we won't do anything much with it...and eventually ( as all teams even Citeh do) We will make a mistake...and we are 1 nil down
A really sensible post. Don’t think I could disagree with much in that. If Warburton remains our manager for the start of next season, I really hope that he is able to be self-reflective and learn from his mistakes made. Hopefully he won’t put so much emphasis on sports science and instead will look to play his strongest side while players are available. Most of the time you can’t second guess injuries.

Andy Sinton has had ideas of why the back 3 were moved around in games Sanderson played, on the left side of the defensive 3 I think. One was to do with the position a pacy opposition striker or WB played, and using Sanderson's extra pace to combat it. May have been the Forest game and Spence. But he also based Dunne playing right and Dickie central on the opposition, didn't catch who/why.

Of course they do defensive training, that they don't is utter bullsh*te generated by peuple who have hated Warburton since he arrived or shortly after. Defensive training is often referred to by the Management team and improvements in the defense were clear for a period earlier this season. For example If you believe what Warburton says, he was especially annoyed about the goal from Sheff Utd's Norwood after a corner routine which he says they'd seen them do and had specifically worked on in training.

Why would Clint Hill lie about when Warburton when was Rangers Manager ? The bloke's a clown and you need to wake up and realise it

So you're simply harking back to a period between 2015 and 2017 when maybe they didn't do defense training, as frankly in Scotland there is no need for either Celtic or Rangers to have defenders as the standard of the rest of the teams is so sh1te......... That final bit is tongue in cheek in case you don't recognise it:emoticon-0100-smile

I can't believe for one minute that the coaches don't do defense training after all we have enough bloody coaches to cover all areas of the pitch........ but hey you just carry on with your anti Warburton views as it clearly suits your agenda....... you clearly don't like him or rate him or want him managing our club......... in fact you come across as someone who really doesn't like anything about the R's.........

I'll get my tin hat on.......:emoticon-0102-bigsm

Maybe because Warbles sacked his big mate Barton from Rangers, Barton who has given Clint a couple of jobs since, and helped him grow his career to the heady levels of assistant manager at National League Stockport County. Warburton is having a mare at the moment but I’d have him over the stellar managerial record of Hill and Barton any day of the week.

I think I'd need a bit more evidence. than that. Are we talking [Mark] Warburton while at Rangers or [Mark] Hughes while at [Queens Park] Rangers as Hill and Barton played together for both at the same time and my god we were poor defensively under Hughes

Anyway defensive training in the Scottish lower leagues is not exactly a well practiced dark art. Come to think of it, it's not that hot in the Scottish Prem either.

This, for me, is his biggest problem.
He seems incapable of accepting any criticism and being self reflective.
Agree about the sports science too. Bloke's obsessed with it.

Don't be stupid Trammers, you think I would go to every away game for 20 odd years until my leg got ****ed if that was the case ? I want what's best for my club and I want it to be ambitious. I don't mind Warburton as a person but as a manager yeah I don't rate him, but that's just me. Its not just since he's come to us, I think he's a very good coach but as a manager he lacks tactical astuteness and man management. His ideas are outdated and I want a younger coach preferably foreign who take us forward and hopefully up and stay there. We'll never get promoted under Warburton and at the end of the day that's what it's all about surely. If you want to believe that I'm anti our club that's your perogative, but I'll always say what I believe in. I don't expect alot of people to agree with it,but I'd rather be one of the ones that tells it as it is as opposed to one who is happy to just stay in mediocrity and turn a blind eye !

The player was Spense...and he dealt with him quite well...until he he scored that wonder goal in the 60 th odd minute from distance....then we went to pieces, goalie got injured...and our season plummeted.
If we had won there...as we could have...things may have been different

I agree Warburton is focused on sports science and says he listens and takes advice to take a player off to protect them if he can. But Warburton has been criticised by Hammersmith and others I think for all or most of the injuries! I think he does it about right, he does have to take the medics advice but injuries will come, especially the impact injuries, however careful you are. The who gets injured and how many is down to the standard of your training ground, the pitches and luck to a large degree.

That game was after Peterborough and Barnsley, it had plummeted well before the Forest game !

I dont have a clue whether Warburton is a good coach or not. I presumed he was a manager who had people to do the coaching for him. I dont believe for one second that any professional club doesnt do some form of defensive coaching. Saying that, you cant just suddenly rectify defensive errors with a session on the training pitch, it would be naive to think so. You cant coach for slips, being blocked off a runner, a pull of the shirt, a poor pass or even the movement of an opposition player!
You rely on player initative and intelligence aswell as communication to organise a defensive shape, which actually starts from your most forward player.
Coaching players beyond a certain age (i found 19/20 a bit of a cut off) is very difficult. Its all relative to the standard you play at. Saying scottish defences are crap, as stated above could be turned around to say scottish teams attackers are brilliant.
What, in my opinion has been Warbles downfall is his tinkering with selction and formations, to the point of an experiment. Thats for pre season ffs. Obviously we have had lots of injuries but we had strikers available when he decided to play with no strikers, which was nothing short of ludicrous. If he stays or goes is of no matter to me at present as i believe the ambition has to come from the top. I agree with Hammersmith when he says we need a younger manager, someone more in tune with the modern game as it is now. Who? I dont know but if we go for a footballing dinasaur then i fear we could actually undo some of the good work that Warbles has achieved.
