Why on earth would we want to sign Ozil who has never shown himself to be anything other than a luxury player - happy to play when the side is winning but goes missing if there's the first sign of trouble. Not the sort of player you want in the Championship.

Not that I think for one moment there's any chance of Ozil coming to City but are you really saying that if you were in charge Syd you'd say "No thank you, you're just not a grafter son"

Indeed I would. For the wage he would command and the disruption it would cause the squad I don't think it's worth it at all.

Why would a World Cup and arguably top 3 playmakers of the last 10 years cause disruption? Because we have lazy players at the club currently who don’t seem to cause much

So what's one more lazy player?

He hasn't been a top 3 playmaker in the world for at least 6-7 years so think that's a generous assessment.

Look at what has happened at his previous 2 clubs... He'll hardly be coming to Hull to smash it out the park and reignite his career, it'll all be about money.... It's a no for me

Oh I agree just disagreeing that his presence would be disruptive to other players.

He'd not exactly be my first choice of ex-world cup winner who's no longer a top 3 player in the world in his position either.

I do find it interesting though that some of us have come so far in our journey that we'd turn him down flat. I'm expecting some pretty exciting signing when the window opens if our ITK posters don't want Ozil :emoticon-0142-happy

Like I said for me this is just one more in a long line of very unlikely players we've been linked with since the take over.

I just don't understand why people go goo-goo over big name players who are long past their best as if that's where we should be shopping.

Have football clubs learnt so little over the last few years that spending huge amounts on wages for washed up players might not be the most sustainable model?

Who's gone goo-goo on this thread?

As for the wages, in the scenario he was linked with us, he's apparently a part owner so he'd be playing for free surely.

He played for Fenerbache for free last season

Players like Özil and Babel would be silly and unsustainable signings by us. I’d rather us pay a couple million in transfer fees for a player on reasonable wages, even if it means scouring Europe for players. A similar model to Brentford. Coventry only played £1 million for Gus Hamer and he’s by far one of their best larkers and would walk into most Championship midfields.

“He signed for Fenerbahce for three-and-a-half years, he played six months for free. He did not even earn money from January until the end of the season” Erkut Sogut.

Guess it helps when you've been paid so much to sign for the club you can forgo wages for a portion of the season.. Second half of the season isn't the full season either.

I don't know it was somewhere in one of the earlier posts on this thread. Along with someone who was a biscuit millionaire?

Anyway I'm out of the Ozil discussions now I'm going back to watching Youtube video's of Hatem Ben Arfa's greatest moments in a Hull City shirt....
