And to your question about Germany/Poland…I really don’t know as it I haven’t looked at the politics of it all. But of course it started way beyond the Invasion of a Poland I would say

Jeez, if you can't pick a side on Nazi Germany's invasion of Poland, then there isn't much more to say... It's fence sitting in the extreme!

So were we ‘bad’ for backing the ‘bad’ guys, while they were being ‘bad’ to their own people and killing them…..or were they ‘good’ then and only turned ‘bad’ when attacking another nation ?

I'm not commenting on the UK or West's dealings with Iraq historically, however inept, however mendacious. All I'm saying is that when Iraq invaded Kuwait, a peace loving country, I personally chose to support Kuwait and didn't find it difficult.

So then you wouldn’t question anything done by the Allies in WW2 whatsoever and it was all done for the greater good ?
It was simply good against evil and we did what we had to do ?

I've said, and I repeat, international relations and conflicts are never black and white.

That doesn't mean that one side cannot be the clear perpetrator, as the Axis powers were, making it easy for me to pick a side had I been alive.

So conflict is simplistic and complicated at the same time ?
Interesting concept

There you go again.

Separate issues mate!!
Although I would say that much of what the Allies did was for the greater good imo.

But it’s not separate issues though Col and through its whole nature is interlinked and impossible to separate.

So do you think the firebombing of Dresden was “for the greater good”.
Are you ok with that and quite happy that the innocent men, women and children burnt to death were just…pah, all for ‘the greater good’ ?

If we follow your logic, any country can attack and invade any other country and enslave its citizens without reason, and simply claim historically complicated international relations by way of vindication.

You’re obviously making things up now Goldie as that’s nothing like what I’ve implied or logically what I would suggest.

I’ve simply said that there are no good guys/bad guys in any conflict….how ever much like a cowboy movie you want it to be.

Not 'quite happy' about it at all. No, Dresden was a terrible atack, although not without reasons for doing it.
But you see, and we're just going around in circles, that is a separate issue to whether or not I think the Nazis were the bad guys when they invaded Poland.
I don't relish or enjoy any deaths in war, but I don't have a problem identifying the Nazis as the bad guys in WW2 and Putin as the bad guy for invading Ukraine and murdering innocent people by levelling Cities.
He is the aggressor.
The Nazis were the aggressors and Dresden would never have happened had they not tried to take over Europe.
I find it strange that you struggle to call the Nazis the bad guys.

It's exactly what you're implying though.
There's little logic in the way you're arguing this.

In Goldies mind I must logically be a Nazi then…**** :emoticon-0120-doh:

But you personally could not have taken sides when Nazi Germany invaded Poland in search of lebensraum for the German people at the expense of the Poles.

I'd say that proves my case.
