Goals change games. When you are losing, you maybe just give that 1% less which creates space. That's what happens
Yeah but it seems obvious that if the games in the balance then it's going to be City with the pressure rather than us. As I said pre match our best chance of winning this match was getting a lead to defend and we always seem to get more chances in the first half than the second in matches v City/Liverpool. Can't afford to not hit the target from those two chances in the first half.
In Sunday league maybe. I've not seen any evidence of either side easing up in this game. But the class told in the end. Slightly flattering scoreline but that's what happens when you have world class players all over the pitch.
We gave everything. The second half was looking like a great battle with us looking to hit them on the break as they pushed for their second, but the silly penalty killed us off, allowing City to be more cautious in their attacking and eliminate the space they were leaving at the back.
That game quite possibly has a different outcome if Salisu didn't have a brain fart. Saw signs of the old Saints there, and the shoreline flatters City. If we can cut out these individual errors in such key areas of the pitch, we can possibly have a good end to the season if they still have the bite for it.
Nah we've still got some absolute shocking results left in us yet. With Burnley and Leeds up next at least we'll make the relegation battle interesting. Seriously though, with this squad and manager was anyone honestly expecting anything else for today?
Not sure of your point here. If we didn't speculate about different decisions causing different outcomes then it wouldn't be much of a forum. Hardly like I'm using hindsight either, I literally posted about it this morning and in my view it seems to have come to pass.
Absolutely not. 9 games to go and some very attractive fixtures in there. A chance to consolidate ourselves just above the mid point of the league. Try enjoying each game on it's own merits. Ralph will not let them ease up and most of the squad have something to prove.
I was just thinking f**K the scoreline Saints looked a lot more competitive today. Nothing Forster could do about the Foden goal. I have no problem losing when the lads turn up and put in a performance.
True. But ideally the debate would show a bit more imagination than 'if only we took our chances and they didn't'
