A lot of people think Smith was a great striker at Leeds but he really wasn't he was hugely inconsistent and really didnt score that many goals overall.

    This. <ok>

Vuckic and Ferguson would be excellent additions to any Championship side IMO.

Think if they played for a Premier League team like Wigan, Norwich, Blackburn or even Everton they would get regular games

He didn't score goals for fun but he was still a great player imo. To say hugely inconsistent is an exaggeration, Leeds fans love him for more reasons than just because he was a local boyhood fan, his workrate was good and he would produce moments that showed he was growing into a top player. He was still reasonably young when he was with them, plenty of years ahead and you have to admit they looked very promising.

    This. <ok>

Doncaster are a team who would suit Vuckic's strengths because they play a 433 were they have a holding mid and two other midfielders who are either box-to-box or attacking. Vuckic would slot right in there with there style of play too because of his technique, speed and passing ability.

I don't really understand Smith. When he plays he always gives 100% and throws himself in front of everything but he doesn't really seem that fussed about playing as long as he gets his pay packet every week. Money talks I suppose.

Yeah and back then Smith was quite quick and nippy. <ok>

Him, Viduka, Kewell, Bowyer, etc.. were all class acts back then.

Yep. There team used to be:

    Robinson

    Mills - Ferdinand - Woodgate - Harte

    Milner - Dacourt - Bowyer - Kewell

    Viduka - Smith

Pretty impressive like. I know the likes of Milner was too young and not sure if Woodgate played alongside Ferdinand, but was a quality, young English loking team back then

This is the essense of the Smith enigma. He puts the effort in that he used to put in when he was younger, but he just keeps ****ing up all the damn time because of it. Match feeds always read like this:

84mins - Alan Smith is substituted on
86mins - Alan Smith booked for rash challenge, free kick on outside of box
87mins - GOAL FLASH, NEWCASTLE LOSE

Yeah and look at that quality back-line. <yikes> Amazing.

Also there strikers were class. They had Viduka and Smith.. but also ROBBIE KEANE AND FOWLER. I wish we had that strength in depth now.. especially upfront. :/
