I'd wager levy at Spuds would have got it in it's entirety..a sell on fee is always welcome, but I can't see anyone coming in for him at decent fee ,but you never know . if there's also an England call up addon then that would be also very welcome, but highly unlikely.
Are you sure about that fee being paid over the length of his contract? I know a players cost is but not the payment. We spent close to half of the reported fee as soon as he left so I doubt we only got 25% when he moved on.
Yeah, we spent the money on the same terms….ie staggered over a longer period. It’s the way most transfer business is done, apparently.
At the end of June 2021 Spurs owed £169.7m to other clubs and were owed £19m, so they owed a net £150.7m. Levy plays the game as well...........
It's all part of the negotiation of a transfer as I understand it. Selling clubs will want as much of the fee up front as possible, and buying clubs will want to stagger payments as far as possible. I suspect that it factors into the fee paid too - we might be willing to accept a (slightly) smaller payment for a player if it's all paid up front over a bigger deal spread over a longer period.
Fully agree with Warbs' comments after the game for once. I said in the ground that we were getting complacent against a weak opponent who let us have the ball a lot. You have to respect every opponent in this division, and we didn't.
I think we pay too much respect to struggling teams, and more times than not give them a helping hand at our expense ☹️
I'm hanging on to pulling off a run with 6 games to go sneaking into playoffs and going up, that's if we're not 17th by then of course
It would be great and some achievement on the current form were showing if that happened, dread to think how we'd do in the premiership though..squad way short on quality and no money to spend..
Amusing that two youth players scored their goals, whilst MW keeps going and going and going with the same starting 11 and subs. On a horrible run, should have changed the squad games ago, and their is a reason Marshall was playing for no one, cost us at Blackburn and again today. Got to mix it up for Luton but guess it will be same match day squad, MW costing us
What a frustrating day. Cardiff set up in a passive 4-4-2 and looked to settle for a 0-0. They're not pressing but just holding their shape and letting us have the ball. They were asking us to try and play through them. We had lots of possession and kept probing and eventually managed to make the breakthrough with a thunderbolt from Gray into the top right hand corner. Second half, we dominate the game, we look comfortable, we're cruising. Cardiff not threatening at all. We had a huge amount of possession and were knocking it around freely. Surely it's just a matter of time before we get a second. Andre Gray misses a good chance, perhaps he had time to take a touch and compose himself better, but it goes wide. Davies then scores for them in what I thought Marshall should've done better completely against the run of play. And then, after a clear foul, the ref decides it's not a foul but gives the decision in the exact same situation up the other end of the pitch? What is it that he is seeing that I'm not? How can that not be a foul but that is? Cardiff take the lead 2-1 and we completely lose our composure. We didn't muster a chance on goal from 74 minutes onwards which is when after they took the lead. ( Seemingly impossible until then. ) After having so much of the ball, you can't go up or even compete for a play off spot being so passive and lacking any penetration. The reality check is that we'll still be competing in the Championship next season. We've blown it I'm afraid.
