You are right Guy the EFL don't want to be seen as the bad guys in this after the Bury bad press, at the end of day it still comes back to two bad owners who have just decided to walk away & leave other people to sort out the mess. There is also an interview somewhere where Morris openly admits he hung it out because with 9pts reduction in the Championship they would have been relegated into league 1 then another deduction in league 1 for going into administration

Morris has said that in order for the sale process to be completed, he has told both Boro and the Chairboys to pursue him "personally" through the High Court in order for administrators Quantuma to get a deal done

"The EFL notes the comments published and the proposal tabled by Mr Morris this evening. It will now review in detail before considering its position and determining an appropriate response.

"In the meantime, the offer to engage with Mr Morris and all other stakeholders remains in place as we seek to find the compromises required to protect Derby County in the long-term. The League will not be commenting any further on this specific matter at the current time.”

Not sure that would be a good idea as they might not succeed, given it is not a debt yet; it is a claim. He can take over the actual debts of HMRC and MSD. If he takes over the actual debts and leaves the claims from Wycombe and Middlesbrough to be negotiated that might work

Wycombe owner Rob Couhig is reportedly flying into the UK for talks over his club's legal claim against Derby County.

According to The Sun, Couhig is making an "unscheduled trip" for negotiations on the issue, which has now moved up Quantuma's to-do list.

Couhig is said to want compensation in the region of £6m-£14m but has room for negotiation.

It is the Sun though <laugh>

I doubt it is anywhere near that figure, & all this could have been sorted a couple of months ago. I wouldn't be surprised if they isn't also a statement coming from Derby admitting Mel Morris cheated

Will be sorted this week. But my empathy with Derby fans is beginning to wane following some of their nasty comments. Calling our claim to be "what might have been and pigs could fly etc" and being generally nasty about our promotion to the Championship. FFS our claim was at least tangible. The difference between the umbrella payment on relegation after 1 year and 2 years and the loss of TV rights should be easy enough to add up. Whereas Middlesbrough's £45m was based on what might have been as there was no guarantee they would have got to the final of the play-offs, let alone win them for promotion to the Premier. It's another case of let's get the big club sorted then we can boss the little club. Rumour has it the settlement will be less than 6 figures. I wonder what was agreed between Morris and Middlesbrough. The Football finance expert has made it clear that when clubs realise the cost of contesting a claim in the High Court they soon decide to settle out of court because it is quicker and cheaper. I'm sure Rob knows what he is doing but, as I said earlier going for Morris in the High Court would be a very dangerous route and it would be better, given it is a potential football debt, to take the original route (ie against the club) unless Morris agrees a sensible solution. I suspect Morris wants to lure Wycombe into a High Court claim against him as he believes he would win that, whereas Wycombe would probably win the claim against the club. A claim against the club could see Derby edge closer and closer to liquidation. It's become a game of poker

I don't know what is going on here. No news at all. Yet Rob flew over to have discussions with the Administrators and it was expected to be sorted quickly. Not even news to say how things are going, or not; just silence

    "Preferred bidder optimism
Derby County are reportedly "optimistic" of naming a preferred bidder for the club by the end of the month in what would be a major boost for the club.

As reported by Sky Sports, there is now ‘increasing optimism’ of a preferred bidder being named before the end of the month, although a new owner is "very unlikely" to be in place by the start of March.

The report also adds that there should also be "sufficient backing" for the club to prove to the EFL that they can fulfil their remaining fixtures when the deadline given by the organisation comes around."

Has anyone told them it isn't a leap year?

It's the usual bullshit by the FA Ron. You have until xyz day to do abc. Right then if you don't do it by uvw day we are warning you of the dire consequences. Ok last warning you have until the end of time and one day to do whatever you want or we will fine you a couple of quid. Let that be a lesson to you all we are not to be messed with. Feckin pathetic as usual. I wonder if anyone from Bury will tell the FA what a deadline or liquidation means.

Like I said in an earlier post Derby are going to play the EFL along because of the publicity from the Bury debacale the EFL don't want to be seen as the bad guys.

Maybe they should stop giving deadlines that aren't deadlines. Who will take any notice of EFL threats in future? AH, the little clubs will have to

EFL accuse Derby's administrators of 'threatening the very future of the club' and IGNORING their calls and emails as the league demands a 'critical' update on their preferred bidder

"........;and we hope to be able to name the preferred bidder shortly." ?

    Their bill will be astronomical

Surely the only outcome now if this goes on much longer will be the expulsion of Derby altogether? I remember Administrators at play down here. They are worse that Vultures they really are. They get paid no matter how badly they perform. By the time James Brent came along for us we had absolutely nothing left to sell. They tried to present him with a bill knocking on £1m for their success in selling off everything we owned at knock down prices. He told them to do one and offered them a fraction of their bill. They had a choice of getting nothing at all in the end or taking the offer. They took the offer. They had achieved nothing for PAFC.
