If we get Marsch I’m hoping for the best bits of Bielsa style with a more modern approach, a willingness to tweak things. He will be a hungry coach who has achieved little and wishes to prove himself. There won’t be any loyalty to players who earned promotion and it opens the door for Bogusz and Drameh to return.

I was reading about his hairdryer half time treatment when his team played Liverpool. At 3-0 down he asked how many fouls they had given away, just two. With a ton of F’s he laid into them saying Liverpool need to know they are there, get into them and although they lost 4-3 they had pulled it back to 3-3

I wasn’t convinced on day one of Bielsa, I’m not convinced this is the right guy but we have to be realistic. I don’t think he’s going to be as fussy in the transfer market, Orta is going to have more of a say. That will divide opinion I’m sure

What Jesse Marsch has said about Brenden Aaronson as reported Leeds United managerial target coached midfielder at Salzburg

Both Americans have been linked to Leeds United in the summer

Leeds United ultimately didn't bring in any senior players in the January transfer window but it wasn't for lack of trying.

The Whites had two bid bids for Brenden Aaronson turned down by Red Bull Salzburg and it has been suggested that the club like the player so much that they didn't move on another midfielder as they hope to make another attempt to buy him in the summer.

Meanwhile, they have also been linked to Aaronson's old coach at Salzburg in Jesse Marsch, suggesting that there could be a possibility for a reunion in the summer.

That's because according to reports, the American coach is seen as Leeds' number one choice to succeed Marcelo Bielsa, should the club or the Argentine decide that this summer is the right time to bring his chapter at Elland Road to a close.

The club's pursuit of Aaronson - as well as links to Marsch - make clear that the philosophy for the future will continue to be focused on playing a fast, pressing style of football and the two have both spoken about this way of playing in the past.

Marsch was the head coach of RB Salzburg at the time that the Austrian club signed Aaronson from Philadelphia Union in MLS and the 49-year-old said at the time:

"He’s gotten better and better each game. I think he understands our philosophy of football.

"He’s very aggressive, he runs all day, he’s clever on the ball. He does all the things that we like in a player."

This suggests that marrying up the club's top transfer target with a coach they already know likes the player as much as Bielsa is said to have done when presented him in January, makes a lot of sense.

In fact, Aaronson himself has spoken very highly of being coached by Marsch.

"I’ve learned so much [under him]. Jesse’s a fantastic coach for me," Aaronson told the Tactical Manager Clips Youtube channel.

"He’s very open, very tactical, does film sessions with you. He teaches you other things.

"Formation wise, for me it’s been four or five formations. He likes trying things and I like that.

"He’s definitely a pressing coach and that’s what he’s really focussed on."

He also spoke about Marsch's favoured 4-2-2-2 formation and how it suited his play, saying, "In the 4-2-2-2 I’ve been one of the narrow wingers/10s. I really enjoy it. It gives me freedom to roam around and find the game sometimes."

In the long run we'll miss the Orta / Radz / Bielsa combination, especially the latter two. It'll truly be the end of an era.
I recall a poll of PL fans about how often they saw the owner - Leeds were the only team where the answer was 'almost every day'. The others ranged from 'never' to 'rarely'. No one else has their coach turning up - unexpectedly - for U11s on a wet Monday night. No other coach is as approachable by fans like Bielsa is - can you imagine Klopp posing for fans on a regular basis in a suburban Costa or living in a flat above a shop. I can't.
I recall Radz personally going out in the rain at Elland Road to invite that lad into the players awards evenings - he was waiting for autographs, which he wouldn't otherwise of got until gone midnight or so.
Bielsa stopping his driver after the Derby away game so he could go and greet a disabled fan who was waiting to meet the players. Making the players pick up rubbish so that they understood humility and that everyone has a role.
Finally Orta's enthusiasm and trolling Derby - no anonymous grey suit there.

That's proper leadership and integrity - all about setting the tone at the top and recognising that its a fan-driven game.
No way is it the same scenario, but the leadership examples are up there with Kiltschko and the Ukrainian PL players joining up to fight.

There'll be some grit in the air when El Loco goes.

You'd think, but have a look on Twitter. The majority of Leeds fans on social media want him to stay

Good, at least he will know he was respected and loved. I’d imagine he is feeling lousy this morning, not because he’ll be out of a job but because he’ll feel he let the fans down

If they’re going to protest about anything they should be protesting about corrupt officials and VAR.

If the reports are true...and they will be, then we're now 99% certain to go down.

Any true analysis of the fixtures since January 1st will show that we beat Burnley & West Ham whilst losing to Newcastle (a game we dominated) and Everton. We then had 3 games in a week against historical Top 4 clubs and as expected lost all three. There was also a commendable draw away at Villa in there as well.

The owners have panicked and failed to back their man at the very first sign of trouble. Let's be honest here as well, that if other clubs results (at the bottom) had not significantly improved then this would not have happened. It's knee jerk and it's absolutely the wrong decision as they will now find out to their very great cost.

Honestly, both myself and my son are disgusted at both the decision and the lack of backbone shown by the ownership of our great club.

Agreed. Some very winnable games coming up.

Senseless decision at this stage of the season.

Perhaps it's not for this season but to give a new coach a head start.

Maybe, but he’ll have less than a week with the players to change a philosophy they’ve been indoctrinated with for three and a half years.

Suppose the next question should be how the fans respond? Bielsa had God like status among many of the fans and will be a hard act to follow. Will the fans show their disapproval at Bielsas sacking or will they jump immediately to the same support for the new guy. If we are to stay up I hope that the fans continue their current level of support.
