England cut off. Both bridges between Wales and England have been closed. The first time this has happened.

Hardly cut off - it's a bit of a detour.

Funny how the bridge never shut when there were tolls to cross it, but now the tolls have been removed it can close. Same happened up here when they scrapped the tolls on the Erskine, Skye and Dundee bridges...

Strongest ever recorded gust of wind in England recorded at 122 mph on the Isle of Wight.

M4 closed as high sided lorries blown over.

For the first time ever both the M4 and M48 bridges into Wales closed at the same time.

50,000 properties in the South West and South Wales without power, 73,000 in Ireland.

No trains in or out of Waterloo, those already on the move will just stop at the next station.

Luckily my kids trampoline is still firmly on the ground.

Was beginning to think the whole thing had been overstated as it was a pleasant but breezy day, sea had returned to normal conditions that we see during a force 8 gale......... we've been downgraded from Red to Orange warning for the rest of the day........ However a few minutes ago we had a huge gust of wind, worse than anything we had whilst in the Red Zone accompanied by horizontal rain and sleet.......

It's still on it's way to you all........

Very, very high speed gusts here right now.

As I'm isolating, I can't see what's happening out and about, but friends reporting damage to roofs, fences and trees.
Power cuts too.

**** that - Think you'd be having second thoughts about getting on that if you were sat in your car watching it trying to dock! I use those ferries all the time, headed over to Stornoway next week so hoping it'll be a lot calmer by then.

I used to get the Rosslare to Fishguard ferry when I lived in Waterford and remember one journey where it had to drop anchor for around four hours just outside Fishguard, winds were about 60mph that time. Scary stuff and you certainly earn your 'sealegs'...
