Because of context. We've got league one players playing against the top of the table team. We had two strikers out, we had a ****house of a pitch to play on and came up against a team that was assembled for a cost of something at least ten times what ours cost. These aren't excuses, they're factors.
In a game like that, quality will always win out because Fulham didn't like the conditions either, so that levelled it out for us, but with strikers like Mitrovic in your squad, you're always going to be capable of pulling something out the bag. Who do we have that's an equivalent? KLP? Not even close, and therein lies the issue.
It's not like people are celebrating the defeat, nobody wants us to lose, but at the same time it's not like we were playing Barnsley or Reading, sometimes you just have to accept our place in the footballing world and that our squad is a world away from some others.
In Summer, you may well see a lot of money chucked into our squad and games like that will have a less predetermined outcome. We just need to bed in the tactics this season, potentially limp over the line and get into Summer ready to go.
