Ffs talk about frustrating, Barnsley deserved that, thought we had turned a corner too. just not firing at all
Very very lethargic all day even with the subs. Austin for Gray was a complete waste of a sub. Desperately disappointing against a limited side. Quite how Dykes ****ed that chance with the last kick I’ll never know. Easier to score.
Defenders and midfielders tapping the ball around in their own half and more often than not in their own penalty area, does not equal dominance. Possession stats are meaningless in those circumstances.
Warburton keeps saying we've got a high quality squad now, but do we really ? I don't think so, Willock is high quality and 9 of our last 10 goals he's either assisted or scored. Without him in the side to carry us we look impotent. Our midfield attacking wise is turd, Johansen has been arse for ages why wasn't Amos starting today instead if a 90 Yr old ffs. Adomah has been the other impressive player over the last 3 months and he's on the bench, yes he's getting on so get in a decent wing back as cover ! We may be on a shoestring budget but for the sake of a couple of hundred thousand we could've got Paterson in as cover for when Willock or Chair were injured. It's not hindsight I said it halfway through January, its like the club don't really want to push for promotion. Its been quite a few poor performances on the trot now barring the Reading game but they are godawful too. Warburton needs to show some bollocks and drop certain players and start picking a midfield with a bit more energy and bite. We will do well to stay in the top 6 if performances continue like this. Thoroughly depressed signing off
I'm not sure it can be argued that a team on 37% possession could be considered the dominant of two. My point is, we looked dominant with possession but were too protective with the ball in attack, with our forward players regularly passing all the way back to our back 3. We didn't try any 50/50 through balls. We didn't try to make their defense work. We refused to make passes that we didn't think were 99% likely to get to one of ours, and therefore ended up not being very creative. With that said, we probably had the best chances. With good finishing, we could have had 2 or 3 goals. I think we actually had more scoreable chances.
Well, it was a little tongue in cheek, but I’m just trying to balance out some of the ridiculous negativity being posted on this thread. Light and shade and all that stuff. In house Samaritan. 30 games gone, 4th place, 5 point gap to 7th. Lost today, a poor performance against a poor team, we’ve not been convincing recently but have squeezed the points out. Still over achieving hugely from my perspective. From what I saw Amos would at least have given us some more energy than Hendrick who did very little, and pretty obviously we missed Willock, who is now a better player than Chair (who is still a major asset). Dykes tried to put himself around a bit, unlike Gray. Albert can’t play all game every game, but his influence is huge. The Wall and Hull next. 4 points would be outstanding.
A bit of perspective is needed. We’re fourth. If we finish sixth it’s been a hell of a season. Millwall will be tough but there’s no reason we can’t get seven points from the next three.
On successive Saturdays we've lost to the two worst sides in the Championship without looking like scoring, we'll do well to make the playoffs if we don't improve...
Good or bad season we always lose to the so called ****e teams, there's some comfort in that I suppose
Agree with most of that Sb. I do think we should have our better players on and get in front in these sort of games; then pull off Adomah, Austin or Johansen when the graft is done. We allowed them to get confident. It’s been a good season for sure. It will be gutting to see us give up any of the play-off places now. There’s a way to go and there are certainly teams below that will fancy their chances to edge their way in - someone will have to give way if that happens. We need to make sure we aren’t one of the ones giving up late on. We may be punching above our weight, but let’s keep punching right to the end. I don’t want any of our players, fans or management looking back and feeling we missed out. We can do it!
Well that was inevitable, this is still our best season since winning the league. I never expected an automatic place, still will be very happy with top six
That's a shame. We missed out on winning five consecutive away wins, which would've been a club record. We seem to be doing well at this sort of thing. Didn't we miss out on a record earlier in the season, consecutive goals scored or something? We all know that anyone can beat anyone in this division, which I can accept. But the manner of defeat is disappointing. We need to get back on the horse PDQ, starting against Millwall on Tuesday. Win that and everything will be rosy again. A point acceptable, but don't bloody lose! I'd hate to see my pre-season prediction of 7th come true.
I’m staying in the garden bar getting pissed, have a good night as is possible all see y’all next time
It would've been the first time in our history that we'd won 5 consecutive away games ! That's crazy that we've never done it, doubt we'll ever have a better chance of doing it now. We'd also scored in every away game in the league this season till today. Ffs I'm so angry , has to be something in the face that we always go the bottom team who haven't won for decades and lose !
Ball being frozen out really puzzles and annoys me, it rubs salt in that Warbs often name checks him in interviews. Started the season as a regular and arguably one of our better players early on. Given how lethargic our midfield has looked we could do with a bit of his energy. Important game Tuesday night now, really need a win, don't want to start a slide out of the play off places.
