I haven’t been paying too much attention to Coventry, to the extent that I thought they were League 1. Going on their league position, in the Championship, this could be a tough game, needing us to be at full strength.
My Coventry fan friend says they will come out and try and play football regardless of what we do, our press could be very valuable. Their striker is small but fast so nothing gets lumped up front
Maddest week of my life. Was living in Manchester at the time but was due to fly home to Ireland that week for my driving test. Was diagnosed with cancer on the Monday so that was a mighty kick in the balls. Obviously was in no frame of mind to fly home so to cheer myself I dragged myself out of the self pity I was feeling over to Liverpool for the match. A few drinks before the game and I began to forget my troubles. Felt like there was something special in the air the whole evening. An Irish man scoring the winner felt like someone was watching over me after a rotten week! It felt like it was just meant to be! 6 months later after treatment and an operation I was cancer free. Took a couple more years to get the driving license though I'll never forget Shane's goal and reminds me that even if times are ****ty there is always light in the horizion.
Good for you TB14. I was working in Cork 1999 (there was a party!) driving licences were optional as I remember. Certainly some interesting driving techniques.
I dread to think how many times I’ve watched that goal over the years. Sad thing is, we more regularly and fondly reminisce about that semi final and cup run than probably 99.9% of Man Utd supporters despite them winning the damn thing. We should have won in!
Still flying, thanks for the kind posts. I think most of the country thankfully has brushed up on the old driving techniques since then thankfully. My part, Donegal may be the only part stuck in those days, with speeding and writing off cars still a recreational pasttime for a good few young man sadly.
