Personally, I'd like to wish Grant and his team all the best for the future and would hope he never has to lead a club again through a transition period as long and as fraught as ours has been. Thanks for not whinging when your best players were sold to pay the bills and thanks for still not moaning when you were left with the ****houses who played like they were doing YOU and us a favour by being here. I'd also like to thank you for rapidly building a team good enough to not only escape a league that's been a graveyard for far bigger clubs than ours but for also giving us a league title, our first in more than fifty years, to tuck into our sparsely filled trophy cabinet. I'm pleased you've left on a high ...

It was inevitable regardless of results after the takeover became widely known. Grant got a pop at the end with a couple of good results, one of which could have gone completely the other way given the number of chances Bournemouth had in the first half. We got lucky and he got the 3 points. But it did not change Acuns mind. And I have to commend Acun for that you have a plan stick to it, dont change your mind based upon a hope that a couple of good results are going to lead to better things, they usually dont. In a down market the trend is downwards a few good days on low volume should not entice you to get back in.

I suspect that McCann and his team have known this was going to happen for the last few weeks.

I think so too, certainly, Grant has known, and personally, I'm not surprised. He has done okay bearing in mind the constraints he has been having to deal with, but 2 wins aren't going to change their plans.

I think he will probably get another gig quite soon in Div 1, and good luck to him. I personally think he was shackled to a certain degree by the Allam's and this Club Philosophy of 433, which was his preferred formation, but fate took him to have to play 352, and it proved to be quite successful.

It will be interesting to see who of the existing backroom staff will be kept if any. I think I would be inclined to keep some continuity and maybe retain Tony Pennock, physio etc, as the players need to see a familiar face here and there and not a total decimation of the backroom staff.

It will be interesting to see what Shota plays, I believe his preferred formation is 433, and with the right players to play it can be very effective. He's worked under a lot of good managers, so he should know what he is doing.

Interesting times, if Acun gets it right then it will be an interesting ride, if he gets it wrong, as with Reading and even Everton have, then who knows what will happen. However, on the face of it the Director of Football and if the expected CEO comes in, this looks to be a good management team.

Acun to Shota ‘ what’s the team for Saturday ?
Shota - I want players with good ball control in midfield and Cannon , Moncur and Smith look really good in training - so I’m dropping Docherty ,& Smallwood and KLP because he’s too small too .
When I played in the UK I saw that the Championship was like the Scottish second division so I know what to do -

Well ya never know !!’ Just messing

The way Peterborough is going he could end up back there. That would be a feather in his cap keeping them up?

They'd be daft not to pick up the phone and ask the question. I think he can get a bigger club if he's willing to drop back down to L1. A Charlton/Portsmouth/Bolton would be a great move for him. At least then, if they go up you have a better chance of competing than you do at P'boro where it's always going to be an uphill struggle to stay in the Championship.

Regardless of where he goes, I expect him to take a lot of players that have been here

What a lot of bedwetting - McCann has been responsible for that horrendous run in the Championship, was it 6 points out of 60 , that 8 0 defeat by Wigan when he clearly lost the dressing room, a stubborn refusal to change his philosophy even though we were losing again and again - some of that form has continued this season, without Derby and Reading receiving points deductions we would be sitting one place above the relegation places and now all of a sudden after 2 wins in a week he has become the messiah even though we were ****e in the Stoke game --- enough - we have a new owner who has taken us over from the Allams, he said he was going to invest in the club at least give him the time to prove himself rather than shoot him down because he is getting rid of McCan who clearly has failed spectacularly at Championship level. We have exciting times ahead, at least embrace it rather than react negatively at the first sign of change and more importantly give them a chance

To be fair, if he can only manage to beat Bournemouth 1-0, it's clear he had to go.

That and the Blackburn result where the tipping pointe for me... Should have done much better then 2 clean sheets and 6pts! I almost broke out my pitchfork

Any notion that Grant has failed spectacularly at Championship level is just wrong. We've done absolutely fine this year.

There's legitimate reasons to sack Grant but bringing up what happened 18 months ago certainly isn't it.

On a serious note, I'm pleased for Grant that he can leave on a very high note, and I reckon there'll be a few current managers nervous that he's now available.

Time will tell with the new guy, but all we can do now is sit back and enjoy the ride.

There have been at least 3 times I've thought GM should have been sacked - after the relegation obviously, again after we lost at home to Ipswich in February (then went on a 14 game unbeaten run so i was wrong) and again before the Barnsley game this season. Indeed, at that time I thought if the takeover didn't happen soon and he was replaced we would be too far adrift by time it happened. I was wrong then too, but suspect the decision was made then.
It's not 'bedwetting' to be concerned about him being replaced now by someone with no record of success or even experience at this level, and the fact these players would run through the proverbial brick wall for the current manager also concerns me.
There was a blissful moment driving back from Bournemouth on Saturday evening when all felt well with Hull City but I suppose this new ride was never going to be without some significant bumps in the road. As ever, TWT but less happy about the state of things today than I was yesterday.

Amazing how some Terry downers are now lording his time at the club with praise that would make SAF blush.

The squad are not in for training today.

It would have been a mistake to let Grant go last week.

I felt that McCann should have a few more games, but he knew that he was to be replaced and it has to be a bit of a relief to leave on a high.

    Thank you Grant, bye.

If he wants to play 433 I hope he's bringing a fullback or 2 with him!
