It's about levels and scales, but also about those setting the rules abiding by them. I've only seen my eldest girl 2 or 3 times since the start of lockdown ... whilst we've done FaceTime, Teams etc it has been really tough... but with my other half in the highest risk category (spleen removed as a kid) there was no way I, or my daughter, would take the risk of causing her serious illness... or worse ...

Very much the same for me as with your Mrs, CEV and have done all that’s asked. It was a general observation. How did it spread so wildly if everyone followed the rules. I don’t take moral guidance from someone like Boris or even rule breaking Cummings who has been quick to get his face/voice back out.

because even if you follow the rules you still face a reasonable chance of catching it if you can't work from homer , have much of a social life or have kids of school age .
In effect most people have followed the guidance , though some obviously haven't , but others like yourself have been more cautious than the rules due to increased vulnerability .

I followed the rules (and yes going to buy my car was within the rules) and for the most part managed to steer clear of it all. But this last couple of weeks has seen both my daughter and my wife contract covid. Mercifully both of them have been fine, other than a few days of grogginess. But I guess with more relaxed rules, and a more infectious variant, it was always going to a risk.

not pointing fingers here. It appear d to spread faster that it should based on lockdown etc.

my ongoing image is that coach driver taking infected brits back from a flight returning from Italy into isolation. The only one without a mask.

Everyone else in Hazmat, but the driver.

Brilliant interview with Rory Stewart that I saw this afternoon, well I thought it was, and I agree with what he says.

For those interested and prepared to listen to all of it, I also agreed with his views on Biden and especially Putin, where he says it's a waste of time having discussions with him.

For me Rory summed it up early in the interview, when he said something like, politics has become about winning and loyalty, rather than the best people for the job, and people that actually know the job.

He smashes our democratic system to bits. Not just the Tories but Labour as well.

As he says, Elective Dictatorship...

I'm wondering what more Sue Gray can tell us about this government's lockdown debacle that we don't already know.

When she's finished I'd like to ask her to find out some other stuff.

Do bears really **** in the woods?

Is the hokey cokey really what it's all about?

If I have a serious allergy to nuts, can I eat squirrel?
