I'd love him to sign, and no matter what happens he's one of my heroes. But the fact he is doing the rounds with SSN, Talksport etc suggest to me that he's using the shop window as much as he can. And the fact he's namedropping us I see as a slight negative to his chances, rather than positive.
I'm no doubt being a bit precious but I feel it's a little disrespectful to use us in that way. If he now ends up with us it'll feel a little like a last resort for him. I didn't hear the interview mind so maybe there was more context.

I suspect that the position with respect to Defoe is that they both know where they stand, they both would love it to happen but there are a few difficult sticking points, which lets be honest here, will likely be wages as a league 1 club.
I think its slim chances personally. The closer we get to the end of the window, the more likely it is that someone in Championship will take him as cover. Blackburn or someone like that.

He's been in the habit of doing lots of media stuff like. Rangers fans apparently thought he did too much so I wouldn't read too much into these appearances.

unfortunately Hume is going under the radar at the moment. Because he's "one of our own" and young he'll get more sway with the fans, but that whole contract debacle (holding out for a better offer from elsewhere then signing the original offer made by Sunderland) plus injury has pretty much made him the forgotten man. Perhaps a loan away could help him in terms of playing time and head space.
Unfortunately at 39 he cant really turn down a Championship club. The notion of coming to us in Leauge one is romantic, coming to us in the Championship more realistic. I'd love him back.
McCoist encouraging him to keep playing as long as he feels he’s doing himself justice.
