From the bits I've heard from Stoke and Boro fans Bartth seems the sort of lad to absolutely love defending and with leadership skills thats exactly what we need in there alongside young Doyle. Flanagan looked very good earlier in the year but has made a couple of costly errors recently and to be able to take this lad from the top end of the Championship definitely bodes well.

Roberts expected to be announced as well, two quality additions for me. A striker (I think we all want it to be JD now don't we?!) and a **** house of a midfielder to go.

Really struggling to get excited about either of these signings now. I think both will be excellent signings, and they should excite me, but our recent form is leaving me with a "its too late" sort of vibe.

I know I'm wrong though. Just struggling to get too enthused, perhaps as a defence mechanism against being over-excited.

That ****house of a midfielder we need. Ideally someone in the mould of Crooks at Boro. Absolute unit, gets about the pitch well, good in the air, can break play up, scores goals and not shy of the nasty side if required.

Aye hes a good player like. Probably plays a little more advanced than what we'd want I'd think. We want a proper hard bastard who ideally is decent in the air. They don't need to be overly technical as such just be able to battle, win it and then give it to Pritchard, Embo or Neil.

Fair point well made. Someone in Crooks mould might still leave us exposed at times as well as costing a fair few quid due to the all round nature of his game. A bigger 28 year old version of Bally would be canny.

One in. good stuff.

This is the kind of "proof" that sometimes Nixon is worth listening to... when he's specific. When he's being cryptic he's just fishing for interest. But earlier today he specifically said we had pipped Sheff Wed to him and as far as I know he was the first to "break it". He clearly does have sources all over the shop. Will have been at Batth or even Sheff Wed's end I guess.

Saying all the right things already

Danny Batth said: “I’m very happy that this deal is done because this is a juggernaut of a football club and I’m delighted to be a part of its journey. This is the perfect set-up for me. I’m really looking forward to playing in front of the home supporters and I’ve already spoken to the Head Coach, who has tried to sign me in the past. When the opportunity arose, I thought it would be the perfect option to crack on and do well.”

On paper, which is all I've got to go on without having seen him play, this is a banging signing. Got to be at the upper limit of what we could realistically achieve while in league one.
Agree mate. I havent seen much of him but Stoke like a no nonsense defender. That list of reviews posted earlier was spot on as well.
