Some cheeky rascal hid/stole 12,000 artefacts from a dig. I can't seem to find the story anymore though, I think it might have happened in Spain.

A chap I knew found a Saxon gold ring on a farmer's land. He had an agreement to split any finds 50/50. He thought it might be worth a few bob so cracked on that he'd found it on a beach. Daft beggar ended up with less as it got declared Treasure Trove. Still 11 grand though.
Not a police matter though is it? He would have committed a civil offence. Breach of Contract probably.
