The restrictions at the time allowed for this. This is old news and has been discredited over a year ago. The right wing press are only raising it again to distract, which has obviously succeeded with the more gullible.
Just having a look, there are some backing Keir Starmer others not, some absolutely barking. Surprising number supporting KS. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/ar...nious-Sir-Keir-apologise.html#reader-comments "Starmer didn't call for Johnson's resignation apon the publishing of the picture of Johnson drinking with his wife after work. He has called for it only in the last few days, when it has subsequently established that Johnson attended another event, which was clearly a party, after previously lying that no such event took place, and that even if it had taken place, ' no guidelines were broken' , and the widespread drinking culture in Downing Street. I don't know how anyone with a straight face can compare this with drinking a half pint to accompany food at a meeting." And. "If people think having a bottle of beer in a constituency office with a few staff whilst campaigning is the same as having a load of parties, there is no point in arguing, either they are deluded or just want Johnson to remain in power." Plus. "A lazy bit of spin and deflection away from Johnson. Starmer was in Durham, working and having dinner between meetings, not having a free for all in his house. Get real DM, this stinks of desperation. Then there's. "If the public are emotionally foolish enough to fall for Kier starmer the hangover will be horrendous! Look over at the US and learn ....... Starmers calling Boris a liar is laughable.. His team are taking directions from US Democrats..... come back nigel" Also. "I urge the DM to keep running this story. There must be a full and independent inquiry into Starmer's illegal beer drinking with chums." With. "Whats good enough for one he insisted Boris should resign well so should he!" This. "Captain Catastrophe making labour even more unelectable than old korbynski did."
No need for insults, particularly from a mod. I didn't realise this was old news. I'm not a huge follower of politics. Admittedly I should have noticed it was only in The Mail but I did get up at 3.30 this morning for work.
Fair enough, I apologise for the implied insult, which wasn’t aimed at you but the Daily Mail readership. This is a rehashed story which the Mail ran a year ago, when even they made it clear that Starmer wasn’t breaking any rules in force at the time. As I said, to raise it again now is classic whataboutery which is actually doing Johnson’s defenders more harm than good, as Jabbo’s post makes clear.
Fair enough, I was just browsing the headlines while drinking my coffee and it stood out like a sore thumb as all the other papers had Boris on the front page. If my brain was functioning fully, I would have noticed it was in the Mail!
I only realised it was old news when I read the BBC summary of front pages, spotted the outlier and did a bit of active digging
I think that third to last one was tongue in cheek. Some crazy stuff there though. How does “bring back Nigel” have anything to do with labour or the opposition?!
Yes possibly tongue in cheek although the support for Spaffalot from some ministers is more tongue between cheeks.
I see the BBC TV licence fee is being frozen for the next 2 years, which many see as a Tory attack on the BBC because “they don’t like the way they report political stories about them”. Maybe the reports are sounding distorted as a result of BBC “journalists” and the hosts of political programmes having their tongues so far up the Tory Party’s backside that the Tories can’t understand that the BBC is trying to keep them credible, by not strongly challenging their lies, when they are made.
Then she went into Wilko's to buy a very large clothes peg for her nose, in order to keep out the whiff of corruption...
I was just wondering. When Boris finally resigns, what song choice the cleaners at Downing Street could blast out on number ten’s party lockdown P.A system, as we watch the Johnson’s slink away. I think a fitting end, would be if they played “Carrie doesn't live here anymore” on full volume.
