Billionaire owner, surely don't need to sell? If we do sell, we will never learn, we're always ready to say "can't blame the lad" yet we never seem kick on.
I would quite happily swap places with Wycombe, Rotherham or Wigan find a fan who would swap positions with us. That’s how strong a position we are in.
Oh I agree we need to keep the lad. I was just putting a figure on where I think his value is at. If he does go, it sends out all the wrong signals as you say.
The problem with that JW is that the billionaire owner has said we need to be sustainable. What better way to start
the club did not exactly race to sign players in the summer so we have to presume the same will happen again, we should have quite a few in sight but as we know it is rare that the better players will be moved mid season. i still think we had a good summer in regards to quality but as things stand with 8 games a month, covid problems, injuries, suspensions, games being called off and having to fit in the re-arranged games somewhere before end of season i can see why the likes of ipswich went for numbers...really needs a kind of 'scattergun with some quality' type of approach. you also hit the nail on the head, we play wednesday off the park basically with some lovely flowing football and excellent service to our striker...next game everyone turns up with the wrong boots and have to borrow some from the local under 15's, or that is how it seemed then the next game a mix of the two, we just cannot seem to be consistent.
Fair enough, but we arent out of it. It does emphasise why we must have a better January window than those clubs though. It really is, at this stage, over to the recruitment team to help us. If the runours are true Wigan have picked up Shinnie for next to nowt then they are setting a high bar.
The 72 is another football gossip site, like Football League World. I take a lot of their stuff with a massive pinch if salt. Hyped up stories for click bait
I totally agree with you mate. I just feel as a club we've been very soft. Some times selling because we needed to. From what we've been lead to believe, we don't need to mate. And it's 20 million haha
Yeah there is that. No football club other than the mega rich can be sustainable. Looks like it's sell to buy in that case.
Agree with that, but on the other side of it, if the board knows they've got increased revenue from promotion, OR 20M coming in for Dan Neil in the summer, then we can probs spend quite a bit now within the 'sustainability' approach.
As a Shields lass I wish him good luck. Hopefully keep him fully occupied and keep him out of Sunderland business
