Great trip back to England for my mate... arrives Wednesday afternoon and watches another limp performance against Chelsea in the evening and now the NLD's off.

I was gonna say similar in that we should ask for postponements until we sign a few players but then we'd never finish the season.

This can’t be the only reason. They wouldn’t have postponed it for this alone.

In any case, this is a mess of the Premier League’s making. Other clubs have requested postponements for reasons involving injuries & non-covid absences, yet the Premier League allowed it.

The rules/criteria for postponing a game may be ****ty, and people may be angry about it, but it’s their fault. They’ve set this precedent.

"With Arsenal having fewer than the required number of players available for the match (13 outfield players and one goalkeeper), the Board accepted the club’s application."

You don't have enough players, because you loaned some out and Xhaka got sent off.
    Absolutely ludicrous.

Fair Point but this is a cynical move to rearrange the game until Arsenal have a full strength squad .

If that is the case come out and tell the supporters the Premier league and clubs that are hiding behind these rules should be ashamed of themselves

I agree. But again, the criteria this is judged by is the same as Leicester, Wolves, Burnley, Newcastle and others when their requests were accepted.

PL made their bed, now they have to lie in it.

A more equitable outcome would be to allow team sheet
selections for the fixture to be restricted to the following only
    (at the time) :

    1. those who were available
2, those were unavailable due to corona quarantine

It’s such a mess. One Covid case and the whole idea of squad management of any kind gets thrown out of the window. The PL need to acknowledge this is a massive get-out-of-jail-free card and fix it asap, though realistically it’ll probably have to remain as is for the season.

It’s frustrating but you can’t blame Arsenal too much, they obviously hugely benefit from the game being postponed and they’ve got their wish. Knowing Spurs we’d probably have contrived to lose the game somehow anyway.

    What a farce.

Can you imagine it’s not outside the bounds of possibility to loan a load of players out during January if you have a Covid case and a game you don’t want to play, say to a friendly lower league club. Get yourself over the threshold then recall them after the postponement?

Would love to see someone try it just to see what the PL would do.

What club wouldn’t do the same in their situation? I’d like to think Spurs wouldn’t but if it’s a loophole that exists and it’s to our advantage to exploit it, then we probably would.

The loophole seems to come from the fact that U21 players don’t have to be registered in the squad, but can still be selected. The postponements are judged off the registered squad, not the number of players actually available. Which seems silly.

That's funny, I always thought football was an 11 a side game.

They've "only" got 12 senior outfield players available, apparently.
Literally postponed because Xhaka's suspended and they loaned out Maitland-Niles. <doh>

Football gets more and more removed from it's roots.
